i havnet cut the hole yet so size wont matter. they are for my ater mixing /water storage system.

Where are the good cheap places to get bulkheads here in town???

I know i have seen some at aquatek but not really anywhere else.

Just pointing out the obvious but those barrels are going to be "clean" meaning no chemicals ever being in them due to its leaching out into the plastic then back into the water. or have they just been used for water? sorry but i had to ask the obvious

Barrell City told me they were $18 for the 55 gal with removable top or the same price for the one with 2 - 2" hole in the top. they are blue and right off the "office" they had worsteshire in them.

make sure you didn't get ripped off.

take the main street exit going south on 35, look for the fireworks place on the right, it is just past bunch of barrells cant miss it. the hay stacks are one business too far.

Marc, I am Way south and not much to see actually but wouldn't mind hanging out a bit when you get here, would love to tag along until i have to work sat night if there is a "seat" available.

Been there a few times- a few notes

1 if you are going for the aquaria alone - you are going to see some pretty nice stuff, however i have been disappointed evrytime (better looking tanks in the DFWMAS group up there)

dont get me wrong its a nice place and they have some nice setups.

2 its a bit pricey last time we went just for the aquaria and its a little pricey.

3 I do like how they have tanks seperated by geographical region. if i remember one tank had a ton of royal gramma's in it. another a bunch of long nosed hawkfish.

overall i think its pretty nice it is definitly a place you shoiuld go to if you have never been. but for me seen it once seen it a thousand times.

There is another aquarium in fair park i believe its aquarium at fair park or the dallas aquarium at fair park or something like that its only 4 bucks to get in but i dont know what the inside is like never been unfortunately.

I am glad i saw this post. I have been slacking off on my tank lately and kinda needed something to remind me how much i enjoy my hobby (even thought its becoming difficult to afford right now). you should see the devils hand frag you gave me prob 6 mo ago. it was about the size of a quarter its now about 4in across it is actually one of my fav's.

Marc tell frank i said hi and i plan on stopping by next time i come up that way.

alright I am at work (EMS station near 183 and anderson mill). Does anybody here have experience making the maxijet stream mods?? i know you can buy the kit online but i was thinking i might be able to save a few bucks and do it myself, having never done it or seen it done i and very hesitant. so does anyone have any experience in this venue that would want to walk me through one. I learn alot better watching something rather than just reading it so the walk thru's are great but still dont feel comfortable.

no, the hydor pumps will not work that way.

because a lot fo this is new to me let me ask you why they wont.

now this is my ignorance talking but it would seem logical that if you just turned them on and off they would create that effect. what is the mechanism in the pumps prevents this. (i am trying to educate myself not questions your expertise)

i had a few thoughts on the wavemaker thing. can the hydor pumps be turned on and off with x10? if i had a computer running x10 at random intervals then wouldn't that be the same as a wavemaker???

I need a lot of stuff for my new setup.

first is a return pump i was thinking a mag7 would be a good one to start with. not because i have a history with them or anything like that they just seem to be the name i keep hearing.

I am looking for a skimmer. was thinking about the euro reef RS-80 i'll probably end up buying one new. but gotta save the money.

Lights - T5 4x54w probably 2-10k and 2 atinic of some sort. other than that i dont know. probably a retrofit and i will build it into the canopy. i have know idea about the ballast.

Overflow- I am going to TRY to build it Try being the operative word. but i still need one.

I already have the sump, tank, and i am building the stand in 2 weeks probably with either cherry oak or maple depending on the deal i can get on the wood.

I would like to find an RO/DI unit but since this is a rental house i am hesitant to install it anywhere.

I was thinking about 2 of the hydor koralia #1 one on each end alternating. but i dont know how to get that to happen.

i am trying to keep the price under 150. and it says that euroreef 80 is rated for up to 200g this is only going on a 55g tank so i am worried that that will be a little overkill.

i have the opportinity to purchase the PM es-100 with the 9.5 for $100. so i am trying to decide i was thinking of getting it then replacing the mag 9.5 with a 5 or 7 then use the 9.5 as my return pump. your thoughts

which would you pick?

the precision marine es-100 with a mag 9.5

or a coralife superskimmer 125

the es100 is for a 100g with a 9.5 pump

the coralife is for a 125g
