The Achilles is in porcelain heaven. :( He stopped eating. He stressed out when I added the livestock from shutting down my 90 gallon tank and shut down on me. I may try another one when I'm stable and not going to make any major changes to my tank. He did great until I added those fish into the system. It was a Koran, porcupine puffer, black clown, and mimic lemon peel tang.

That's too bad, I'm really sorry to hear that... it looked great :(

I'm guessing that adding another Acan caused the issue. Was the Mimic bigger or smaller?

I plan on QTing an Achilles and Powder Blue at the same time in different tanks and putting them into the display tank at the same time. I'm doing that right now with a Yellow and Purple tang.

After that no more Acan tangs...

It was smaller, but the Achilles also never ate my Thera A+ Pellets, which I've always found to be the key to keeping any fish that wasn't doing good alive. He ate them when I had him isolated, but once in the tank, he never ate them again. Once things are stable, I may try again, I'm not sure.

Ok, so after the move, I have had a few leaks in my PVC fittings, and I've been meaning to either fix it or redo it with Flex PVC. Well Luckily I was home for a few minutes when THIS HAPPENED!:

post-1783-0-57444000-1351453156_thumb.jp

Needless to say, it was time to get it done. Took a trip to Home Depot and got my new fittings and what not

post-1783-0-47420100-1351453256_thumb.jp

This time, I put in valves to I can undo the pluming without cutting it.

post-1783-0-69445800-1351453166_thumb.jp

I was messy with the glue but I wanted it to seal good!

post-1783-0-85669400-1351453377_thumb.jp

I flipped around my skimmer and reactor so now I have more room for Maintenance!

post-1783-0-41091900-1351453187_thumb.jp

So far, no leaks that I can see. I let the glue sit for an hour or so while I redid the Sump equipment.

Well I have been wanting to add some loc-line to my returns to direct some flow towards some dead spots in the back. When I went to do so I couldn't reach anything with my canopy in the way.

That leads to what my task was for the day. Ditching the canopy and my Vhos, and hanging my lights from the ceiling with the replacing of the vhos by a Super Actinic spectrum LED from Build my LED.

I ordered an Aqua Illuminations hanging kit so I would have some maneuverability, and picked up some shelving rails and nuts a bolts from Home Depot.

All mounted and ready to hang!

post-1783-0-67552200-1356248137_thumb.jp

Well, I have the greatest girlfriend in the world! The right hanging mount came flying out of the ceiling right as we were hanging the lights and the right evo150 dunked into the water for a second before she saved it!!

I pulled it apart and have it sitting open with some fans so it can dry out, but nothing was on so hopefully nothing was hurt or damaged. I'm leaving it overnight just to be safe.

post-1783-0-14825900-1356248411_thumb.jp

Well the rooms a mess and I have to wait until tomorrow but basically the bolt that mounted into the ceiling wasn't long enough to let the brace spring horizontal so it could hold. Bu of course you can see that since it was covered by the covering for the hole. So I have to get a longer bolt so it can get high enough for the brace to spring. Then we will try again.

It could have been a lot worse so I am thankful!

It's more of a restaurant/tourist trap than an ecological exhibit IMO. The texas state aquarium in corpus, the dallas aquarium and seaworld are the best IMO (in that order).

Ok, Hanging the lights take 2.

After a conversation with the hardware guy at Home Depot. I changed how I was hanging everything.

He suggested I screw a 1x4 to the beams in the ceiling and then mounting the hanging equipment to the 1x4. This was the weight is distributed more evenly and the wood can be extremely sturdy on the ceiling.

post-1783-0-07323900-1356330237_thumb.jp

And here we are hung and leveled!

post-1783-0-74351500-1356329610_thumb.jp

I added the hanging kit parts from the Evo150s just to reinforce the hanging lines. There's much weight if any on the outside lines, just the 2 main lines.

post-1783-0-61473000-1356329631_thumb.jp

I mounted my Build My LED fixtures to the beams with L brackets and used Nylon Lock Nuts to tighten them in a diagonal position.

post-1783-0-96953400-1356329650_thumb.jp

The cords look a mess and but I'll take care of that after Christmas. I'll go back and paint the wood to match the ceiling and a few other aesthetics later. For now I'll run the lights to let the Corals get some rays, then get ready for Christmas EVE!

If you've been seeing my recent status, I've been having issues with a Christmas Wrasse going down my overflows.

I devised a way to fix this but it caused a problem at the same time.

My overflows have a few large holes in the teeth because my water level was too high in my tank and the water was touching the center brace. I cut a few of the teeth out to let more water go down the overflows to fix this issue. Well those same holes are what the Wrasse was fitting through.

I had this mesh that I bought when I installed my Bio-Pellets. figured it would work out perfectly!

post-1783-0-48831000-1357152654_thumb.jp

I cut them to size of the overflows

post-1783-0-28980600-1357152669_thumb.jp

Looks great right!

Well now the dang water level is higher! GRRR!

May have to cut some more teeth but keep the mesh?

What do yal think?
