+lewk
Just wondering if anyone else has any experience with peppermint shrimp eating mushrooms. Got home last night and the little b*st*rd was banging away on a rock covered with them. Did enough damage to completely remove one of the caps. I have two of them in the tank, and it looks like they just took a liking to these over the past couple days, overall I think this is their 3rd week in the tank. I'll hand feed the shrimp every day, so I know they're getting enough to eat (or so I thought).

If you value your shrooms, feed your shrimp more. Pat
+lewk
They're definitely peppermints, no white and no hump. Guess I'll try and up their feeding.
JamesL
Hmm... how long have you had the mushrooms? It is possible one of the mushrooms was dying, and the shrimp were "cleaning up".
+lewk
The mushrooms came in on some LR I got, so they've been there as long as the tank has been running, which is probably a couple weeks pre-peppermints. I'll check on them tonight when I get home and see if they're leaving them alone.
AlexKilpatrick
Also, it is hard sometimes to tell what they are eating. It may have just been eating a piece of food that fell on the mushroom.
firefly
My peppermints chomped on some shrooms the otherday, but seemed to be a one time deal. 'course I am out of town right now so I guess I'll find out for sure in a few days.......
420reefn_it
i think it depends a lot more on the individual shrimp more than anything. i've had good peprmnts and i've had bad. even when i do feed daily. one of my pepps took a liking to zoanthids and feather dusters. now i don't trust any of them
