Mako
Hello everyone what is a good "Quiet" return pump for 75 gallon RR tank? Thanks. I got with this pump with this tank and it's quite noisy..
Timfish
I've been happy with Mag 3, 5 7 and 9.5 pumps. Use two smaller ones for redundancy. You might also look at cleaning or replacing the impeller on your current pump.
Jimbo662
I've always used mag pumps and they've always been quiet.
Bpb
My mag 5 was loud as all get out. Currently using a first gen jaebo DC pump and it is completely silent. Only way to hear it is to look in the display and listen for water trickling into the overflow. Otherwise you wouldn't know it's on. Being said, they have a crummy track record for reliability. Id take long lasting over quiet any day. My next pump will be an eheim 1262 Edited December 29, 2014 by Bpb
Reburn
Ehiem 1262 as Bpb suggested or a sicce. I have been extremely happy with the quiteness and reliability of both in the past.
Sascha D.
I use a Quiet One 6000 for my return. I've never used Mag but I hear they are good. If you can hear vibration, then take a piece of styrofoam or silicone mat and put it under the pump.

nuxx
The DC pumps will be the quietest. No hum... I'm running two Jebao DC9000s. All you can hear are the impellers. Also only running DC powerheads abd skimmer pumps as well. All you hear is ramping up and down of the impellers. Btw: The return pumps are controllable as well. To go past the 6 speeds on the controllers I also added a dial controller inline for super fine control. No more messing with the drains on the bean animal setup.
nvrEnuf
Sicce, For the price, best GPH per $ when considering decible lvl. Ehiem a close second
Bpb
Tough to agree on Sicce. Cracked impeller in 9 months, not covered by warranty, $70 replacement for a $100 pump.
Manny
Sicce, For the price, best GPH per $ when considering decible lvl. Ehiem a close second Im for Sicce as well. i just upgraded to one from a mag 7. That mag was excessively loud compared to the sicce. The sicce actually makes no noise whatsoever. They come with a 5 year warranty as well [if you actually register it].
Bpb
Lol just don't plan on that warranty covering the 70%-of-the-price-of-the-pump impeller
FarmerTy
I have a sicce syncra 12 and they replaced the impeller for me when it wouldn't start up. Maybe you caught them on a bad day?

FarmerTy
Maybe I lucked out then!
nvrEnuf
Then I lucked out too. They replaced my entire 4.0 when the magnet cracked after 11 months. Of course, I didn't tell them my ATO was only 2 months old at the time, and I had a bad habit of not topping off before that!
Bpb
How long ago were these replacements issued. You guys have motivated me to troll them back and see if they'll change their tune
FarmerTy
Mine was about 4 months ago.

nvrEnuf
They replaced mine probably about 4-5 months ago as well. Real nice southern belle at thier home office. I called and acted stupid : "My pump didn't come back on after a water change, what do I look for??" Good luck!
FarmerTy
Same thing here. It was Michelle for me as well. She did yours as well Bpb. I just told her my pump stopped turning back on and she said she'd send me an impeller.
