I would say it depends on your bioload and the depth of your sand. Your first big issue would be depletion of oxygen. The more bioload, obviously the quicker the oxygen gets used up. But also, the deeper the sandbed, the quicker that oxygen gets depleted as well.

Your next issue would probably be flow or temperature based. You wouldn't have a battery operated air bubbler handy, would you?

And those would be sufficient to keep things alive yo u think?

You're in life support mode with these so as long as your temp doesn't drop, you should be fine for quite a long time, possibly days even.

I expect 10 to 12 hours should be ok. Battery operated air pumps should keep tanks going for days as long as the temperature doesn't get to warm or to cold.

Just to clarify, 10-12 hours with no battery backup air pumps?

FWIW, I turned mine of to feed and then got distracted. I had no problems in the few hours I was busy.
