Bogdan
Looks like you know what you are doing. Very impressive. The skimmer seems to be a little overkill however.

HaysStanford
Do you think that 1 AI sol would be able to light a 36x18 inch tank?
scubasteve92
Do you think that 1 AI sol would be able to light a 36x18 inch tank? It would really depend what you want to keep and placement of certain coral.. AI's site says that it will work for 3ft x 3ft cube but the par is very low on the outer edges. If you want SPS, then they would need to be in the middle of the tank. I think it is do able, but you would be much better off with 2. Also, I am possibly going to sell my AI fixture and controller. Again that is a maybe.
HaysStanford
Thanks for the info! I would definitely be interested if you decide to sell it.

scubasteve92
Update: I got in my reactors the other day. 2x TLF 150 reactors, one is currently running phosban and the other will be running biopellets in the coming weeks. I have added alot of coral in the last few weeks and everything is happy and healthy! Pics to come! Still trying to decide if I am sticking with leds or if i am switching to T5s. I will be ordering my biopellets, some brs gfo, b-ionic magnesium, and hanna checker in the next week or so. Also going to order: http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/zeovit-nano-power-package-4-x-10ml-korallen-zucht.html to try for a few weeks and see if I have any change in my color and polyp extension. victoly
you could add in a small spotlight kessil on the other side? A little weird asymmetry, but I could dig it

jestep
Is the color what's throwing it off right now? I would think the SOL would be about perfect for those dimensions.
scubasteve92
The color and growth are what concern me. It's not really that they are bad now.. they are all recent frags and my nutrients are a little high right now. I will be lower that in the next few weeks, so everything should color up. I just want it all to grow and be deep color. Idk.. too much reading online i guess. Is the color what's throwing it off right now? I would think the SOL would be about perfect for those dimensions. Peter Gott
I really dig this aquascaping, dude. It is an excellent use of space with the 20H. Did you plan out your coral purchases and placement alongside your rockscaping design, or just throw things together as they seemed to fit after the fact?

Did you plan out your coral purchases and placement alongside your rockscaping design, or just throw things together as they seemed to fit after the fact? Thanks! I originally wanted to do just sps with a few lps corals in the sand bed and some zoas towards the bottom of the rock. I have kinda drifted away from this, since I have alot of zoas and alot of lps. I am thinking about selling a few things so that I can get it down to just a few lps and zoas and add more sps! My hope is that they start to grow together and become a thick reef! scubasteve92
Small update: So I lost my Leopard Wrasse to carpet surfing the other day... I also got my gfo reactor set up and going about a week ago. Still testing phos with API test kit so the change is hard to tell.. but with the BRS GB on monday I am putting in an order for a hanna checker. Added a few LPS corals the other day, I will post some pics this weekend. And lastly, I have a small diatoms bloom popping up.. so I will be doing a few big water changes and will hopefully have biopellets running soon to help. +brian.srock
Good build. Can't wait to see the new rock work. I would keep the LED light but put it on a yo-yo hanger so you can drop it down and up when you need to get into the tank. Only $7 off amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Earth-Worth-Reflector-Hanger-Hydroponics/dp/B005UNJQZM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1352301739&sr=8-1&keywords=yo-yo+hanger Once you get your phosphate problem down you should see an increase in growth. Here's the info for vodka dosing that worked for me if your interested http://www.melevsreef.com/vodka_dosing.html http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2008-08/nftt/index.php
