troypt
Anybody still using the PlusRite bulbs? What is your experience? I will need 250watt DE bulbs. Anyone using these bulbs? what do you like better 14K or 20K? Currently, I am using Phoenix 14k bulbs Thanks Troy
mFrame
I'm using the 20k 250w bulbs on my 90g. They are not as blue as a Phoenix 20k, I'd say they're closer to the 14k than note. Other than that no real complaints, the price was definitely right.
AquaJohn
I had 2 400watt single end 14K's over my tank and it was very yellowish. I switch to there 20K's and after about a week was very happy with the 20K's a nice blue tint but not like antic .
+o0zarkawater
I ordered some from trust_deals on eBay, but got a different brand instead "Power Aquarium". I wanted to test both 14k and 20k, and was more impressed with the PA 20k over their 14k. As far as I know they never specifically listed the brand in their auctions, but now they have a different brand available. They do however still carry the plusrite and will ship them if you mention it. I'm not unhappy with the bulbs I was sent, they look good for 18$ bulbs (150W DE), and they even sent me a free bulb. Juiceman
The price was great, I don't care for the 14k, too yellow for me, I will be getting the 20k when I get new bulbs.
troypt
Anybody know the PAR for the bulbs. I am going to be getting a PAR meter in a month, but don't have it yet
Sherita
I'm using their 175w mogul bulbs on my 72g custom (22" deep) and I am VERY happy with them. So are my corals. Nice growth from the top of the tank to the sand bed and gorgeous color. No complaints here.
FarmerTy
Using the 14k with a lot of actinic supplementation. Looks about perfect for me. The 14k's were brighter and I liked that as the 20k's seemed a lot dimmer to me. If I didn't have a lot of actinic supplementation, I'd go 20k all the way though. troypt
Don That would be great. I think I will wait for a few weeks until I get my PAR meter and then I can compare the bulbs. I will contact you again if a few weeks. My current bulbs are about 8 months old, so I am not in a big hurry, just been thinking about light. +Hydro
I used them for a few months, the colors shift quickly and I started having sps problems. Since I have 5 in a row it was easy to see when some of the bulbs started to shift, they started to get a softer purple color. I would never use again or recommend b/c of my experience. I swtiched back to reeflux and the problems with the sps stopped.
pbnj
My tank's been running 14K Plusrites for over a year....
+Hydro
Maybe I got a bad batch, not worth it for me to try again to find out if I did or not. The colors shifted enough that I saw the difference in about 3 months.
