Wow, how many tangs are there? I like to add Achilles but last one got killed by PBT even though I only got 4 tangs in a 220

My experience was the opposite. My Achilles killed the Powder Blue I added.

As of today I have

In order of addition

Purple Tang

Sailfin Tang

Yellow Tang

Achilles Tang

Chocolate Tang

Blonde Naso Tang

Sohal Tang

Dussumieri Tang

Hippo Tang

Orange Shoulder Tang

Kole Tang

Black Tang

I have tried a Clown, Powder Blue, both killed by the Achilles.

Ok, need thoughts....

My heater is 300w and my tank is sitting at about 76 right now.

Thinking about adding a redundancy heater.

Get another 300w or get a more powerful heater and turn the 300w into backup

Buy a Finnex titanium 800 watt heater (rated 140-265 gals) as the main heater and run it off your Apex. Then use the 300 watt as a backup.

I thought about that.

My heater outlet got stuck in the On position about a year ago, luckily the internal controller was set to 77 so it didn't cook my tank. I'm worried about buying a heater without that fail safe.

I would do another 300 with redundant controls. I share your same fears as to a heater sticking on and not having redundant controls on it. I recently has a digital aquatics pc4 outlet stick on. The relay went bad. The worse part is the indicator led and unit would show it coming on and off. But the relay was bad and stuck in the on position.

Edit: I don't think that any one makes a heater larger than 300 watts with internal controls. I know ehiem jäger and finnex don't.

If it did happen in my system, the chiller would just fight it the whole time until I noticed. Haha.

Even if the heater was stuck on, the apex would turn off my lights to reduce heat and turn on the fans to cool along with the chiller. It would also text me that my temp is too high. Either case, I'm pretty sure I'd notice before things weren't awry.

Even in your tub where most of your fish currently reside?

I didn't think about the chiller as a fail safe. Plus o didn't know how to setup the alarm system on the apex back then so that's another fail safe.

I don't have the ATIs plugged into the apex since they have their own timer, but I don't have a canopy either so I don't think they'd contribute to a problem.

There's a 500w finnex but apparently all the bad reviews for the finnex heaters on BRS are from the 500w model. I think I'm steering clear of that one

After reading reviews and pricing out some different scenarios, went with the same brand I still have.

I've had my current ViaAqua titanium heater for 5 years and have never had an issue.

Gonna add this one as well with the same settings, hopefully keeps the temp a little more stable.

I was discussing with Ty one of the additives from Zeovit I used called ZeoSpur2. It's designed to Lighten the tissue of the Acros by causing them to release some of their zooxanthellae.

The color change Pictures or form this additive. Yes my parameters and good and yes my lights are great, but this current look is cause by ZeoSpur which I dose every few weeks.

NOT FOR ANYONE WITH UNHEALTHY CORAL OR UNSTABLE PARAMETERS!!!

Been giving serious thought to shutting down the 60g and just focusing on the 200.

I would for sure keep the Umbrellas, the Torch and the Frogspawn. Clowns would come as well.

The questionables are the puffer, foxface, and yellow Tang.

Putfer likes clams so it's the Clam or the Puffer..

I have a Magnificent Foxface in the 200 so Idk about putting another..

2 Yellow Tangs... Idk

Thoughts?
