+brian.srock
So I lost a clown fish after a year of it being in my tank. It appears to have died by getting caught behind the Pre-Skimmer box that didn't sit flush against the back of my tank. He will be missed. So my question is how do I find his buddy another buddy since they were a clowned pair?
pbnj
Don't know about finding another mate, but your fish probably went behind the pre-skimmer box to die from some other cause, i.e., I don't think he got caught back there.
Robb in Austin
In theory, if you get another one of the same species, but smaller than the existing one, the existing one will change to female and assume alpha status.
Derek
What type of clown?
+brian.srock
Standard Ocellaris Clownfish. Of the pair this one was the smaller so does that means it was the male and bigger one was the female?

mFrame
You should have no problem getting them to repair as long as you get drastically different sizes. I had some issues introducing a new mate to my Osc clown when my female died. My male switched sexes and then brutalized the new clown of roughly the same size I introduced. It took about a month for the fighting to stop and the loving to start.
