I have been battling algae for months now, grr. after much study i have concluded that i am the lucky owner of dinoflagellates.

Put it in a glass box. > Actually, I wouldn't mind setting up one of those small little tanks dedicated to some of these really pretty Majanos. i have considered it many times I am with everyone else. if it has polyp like "things" on it's tentacles, not a mojano. it is a leather. but the first pics are hard to tell.

I have seen some that were more gorgeous than some of the LE paly's going around, but i never dared to keep them due to the PROBLEM they can cause.

hey melissa, it does not look like any leather i am familiar with. if it has a more open state, that pic may help, but right now i would say 99.9% mojano, and either put it in the sump/fuge, kill it, or make a species only setup for it.

look like a mojano(sp?) nem. regarded as a pest nem. but in my opinion, some are pretty.

i have had it with this algae! i run gfo/carbon, have highflow, 7hr light cycle, almost no sand bed. I had almost won the war on algae, gha, and many others, but now, the red slime/hair has covered the sand, and worked it's way up the rock. so miffed! i am resorting to 3 days dark. if that does not work, i am at a loss

sent the gf in for Blue vet red slime control, and she ended up with chemiclean redslime, anyone familiar with this brand? will, fuge yes, just cheato, and a mangrove. 6 inch dsb in the sump.i had been using zoe with the food for a few weeks, to help my fish get over ick/black ick. i use mysis, never washed it. i just now started occasionally feeding flakes(SMALL amount). water comes from RCA. 20gl long fuge/sump pm redline skimmer, and a rena canister filter that i use for phosban/carbo...

Kenya, i am not a fan, it spreads all over, i keep some in my fuge. I mean, it is an easy coral, but that is the prob. it is TOO easy. in a year, you will be so angry at it.

It sounds like a cowrie. i would say get rid of it just to be sure. if it is a cowrie, it is VERY likely to eat sponges, anemones, corals, starfish. do you see it at night or day? when it is sleeping, is most of the shell covered in its "membrane"

I threw the overflow out a while ago, and the Nano is gone.
