well i have had it in there for about 5 months and it has grown a lot since i first put it in there. the picture below is what it looked like when i first got it. the water parameters are all good except for the nitrates which are just below 20. it started to turn a lighter color then the brown stuff started to grow on it. i run a 150W 14K MH. Back on 12/23/09 i had left out of town and the light got left on for like 4 or 5 days stright. everything else was good besides a little diatom here and there. this was the only this that got like this. it was the closest thing to the top of the tank. i think it got cooked.

any thoughts?

does anyone know whats wrong with this monti cap? it started to turn brown so i moved it in the direct flow. i even use a baster to blow it off but it comes back. what else should i do?

i got this about 5 months ago and it was almost all bleached out. it is doing a lot better but needs better lighting to fully color up right. let me know if your interested.

Does anyone know what could be caueing this. Its happing in my 14 gallon biocube. Every time I clean the glass the green algae film is back on there by the next day. I checked the water peramators and everything looks fine. I do have some xenia that is starting to shrink like it might be dieing but that it. Could this be the problem? Please let me know what your thoughts are on this. I know most tanks get algae growth on the glass but this seems to be a lot.

i have a clown that host my open brain coral. when i try to clean the tank around it he bites me. its kinda funny.

i didnt and still dont spot feed mine. Just give it time. I think it will be fine.

thanks for the chart. i just finished testing my water in both tanks and things look good. nitrats are at 0.25 in the 29 gallon with sump. ill have to watch it to make sure it doesnt go higher. Question. what is a good KH level? mine was at 125.3

It might be growing a new crown (feather). I got one about 6 months ago and the pervious owner had it for about a year. I took it home and it opened up nicely. after about a month it closed up (just like yours. It looked pinched at the end) and I noticed the feather floating around in the water. In about a couple of weeks, it opened back up and had a new feather. Give it time, it is not dead. If it doesnt open soon and you dont want it anymore let me know. i will try to trade you something for it.

I know this question comes up a lot so Im sorry for asking it again. What should the water parameters be on my reef tank? I have a 29 gallon biocube with custon sump. I got me a test kit yesterday after all this time. Was tired of taking my water to be tested at the local fish store. I got the API reef testing kit that tests calcium, carbonate hardness, phosphate and nitrate levels. All inquiries will be appreciated.

if you ever want to get rid of some of the feather dusters let me know. I could use some in my refugium. I have been waiting on mine to start up but no luck yet.

it looks like it could be some sort of hairy mushroom. looks like it has some tentacles starting to come out.

ya i just saw that in the title. i think i have a piece of rook rubble with some on it in my 14 gallon tank. ill check when i get home and let you know.
