  4. Hey all.. The next big Event in our Region is Next wave in Arlington. Its a huge Event put on by DFWMAS. I would encourage anyone who can go to go. Four speakers are being flown in to instruct attendees on successful saltwater care.   5. I have heard that Red Sea Pro has the best CA, MG and Alk but havent tested it myself. Im going to pick up some in the next couple days and will post my findings.
  6. Yea I have had this happen to me before... Im not sure what is on them when they are brand new to make them do this but it doesnt seem to harm the tank.

  9. Sun Coral is Nocturnal and you may not see it open up unless you can train it to open up during the day by your feeding habits.

  14. I love the Vortec and yes Im going to get the wireless controller as soon as its avalible. MACNA was very cool but it was sad to see so many DFWMAS and MARSH members but only a couple from ARC and MAAST
  15. Got my new skimmer at MACNA I think I may be the first in Austin with a Bubble king I also picked up a Vortec Here is one of the pictures I got, Problem with taking the picture is you dont get to be in it. thats Bob Lemcke (MASNA treasurer) Anthony Calfo, and Marc Levingston
  16. Well I decided on a diffrent skimmer then the ATI BM 250, Instead I got the Bubble King 180 And my new Vortec pump

    This would work fine for a FOWLR tank that doesn't use MH and has a pretty constant heat load, the problem with Reef tanks is that you would have a large temperature swing. When the lights are on you have a high heat load when they are off you have a low heat load. You would have to use something like a Reef keeper to turn a separate pump on when the temp reaches a preset value to help regulate the temp. Then you also run the possibility of icing up the hose when the pump is off. Cool idea but I don't know how well it would work for a tank with Metal Halides.

  24. No you dont have to have frags to attend. In fact if you dont have frags a swap is a great place to start. Rivercity will also be selling 200 ish frags so bring your wallet
  25. Hey guys/gals I'm thinking we might start around 10AM or so. If anyone else has a tank they want to show off please reply so we can plan the trip around Austin. We may also stop for drinks after its over.
