  1. Maybe this is something else but I thought you were suppose to use styrofoam for something like that. Get a big piece like they use for insulation 3/4-1" thick, cut it the size of your tank, paint edges if desired, and put the tank on the styrofoam.

  2. what about RODI?

If you are talking about the RODI unit itself, I got my BRS unit off ebay (from BRS) and saved about 20%. However, then I turned around and decided I wanted the filter canisters for chloramines and gave most of those savings back. The components do get a discount. Most of the individual items get between 10 and 20% off. It seems oftentimes the price they are quoting right now as "As low as" is what we usually get, once the GB go in effect.

  4. I've got the Spring Cleaning bug a little late, so there will likely be more stuff coming.

I have two of these bank of 4, complete with converter. They really move the air, but definitely are not whisper quiet.

Asking $25 each or both for $40. Marine Depot

  5. I have a 75 gallon canopy to give away. It would need to be painted, I suspect and there are too big holes in the right side where I had cut openings for 110mm fans.

I can post pics later if there is any interest. 784-4475 if you want to see/get it today. I'm working outside.

Like most of you probably I also have some 5 gallon buckets to give away (3-6, have to look). Most are salt bucket, some with lids.

  6. ok i need to clear some space. just moved and live out of town now

    Hey Quinton

Where have you moved to? Heck seems like just a few months ago you were moving in up the street. I assume the tank move went a little smoother this time:)

  7. I'm glad y'all met numbers. I'm gonna have to bow out.

Yes, I have noticed that just giving us a name to enter or the group buy, is the biggest contribution. It seems, after 'buddy shipping' we must only send in 3-5 orders per group order.

  8. That would have been quite eerie if that was me in the picture. I know them though. This year I believe the smallest pond is closer to 1000 gallons. We do not have any quite as fabulous* as Lost Creek but many are really nice and I believe there is 6 or more ponds that are over 10,000 gallons, including the spring feed pond in Westlake that's 40,000.

*Do you remember Lost Creek actually had half a full size tugboat coming out of their fence line, which doubled as their kids 'treehouse'?

btw folks - that is someone's back yard, and their two ponds are unpictured in the foreground at an even lower elevation.

  9. Sounds to me like you've been talking with Shane. I thought his eyes were going to pop out of his head when I once told him I had just under 500 gph on the return for my 75. I'm sure his methodology works for him but I'm sure it's not the only way to do stuff.

  10. The Austin Pond Society is having their annual pond tour this weekend. Pre-event tix are just $12.50 for the whole weekend and can be bought all around town or online at Austinpondsociety.org. Of course more info is available there also or I will be happy to answer questions here.

  11. The main thing I would do differently would be to move the livestock to a holding bucket (s), move all the sand and live rock; fill and then put the livestock back in, perhaps adding the corals first then the fish = less stress on the fish so their new habitat is just there and not getting assembled around them. I also subscribe to the thoughts that say you put you live rock in the sand not on the sand. If rock is sitting on the glass you don't have to worry about something burrowing under it, dislodging the rocks above and possibly crushing the critter.
