  1. the sump and fuge are awesome. they couldnt have fit any better. its nice to have the heater and skimmer out of the DT the fuge is nice and big....with the light on, its like a whole nother tank. I'm stoked
  2. I got a new yellow tang on friday (2") for my 55g reef tank. 25g sump, fuge mushrooms, zoas, leathers, etc. water is SG 1.024 cal 350 PH 8 NO2 <.03 NH3 NH3 0 My tang all of a sudden has one eye bulging out like there is a clear bubble behind its eye. it looks bad to me, and I am worried the fish is suffering. has this ever happened to anyone? any suggestions?
  3. hmmmm, if i could pick one of those up for 100-150 i would probably do it...that seems like a nice $255 seems a bit rough though....blew all my money on a sump
  4. .alright so i know you get what you pay for..... but how about something a bit more affordable for my 55g anyone used this one? http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp...product=ES33000 I dont mind spending more if I need to, but I am really trying to save for better lights....so would like to keep the skimmer around $100
  5. will need an in sump in about a week....right now, mine is both
  6. so...which one does everyone use? I have a sea clone 100 or 150....dont remember.' its not doing me much good....some days, it skims alot..then goes 2-3 days with NONE may have to try a new brand....ideas? and costs? thanks
  7. black and chrome LP studio for me....gotta love humbuckers
  8. well, with all the construction at my house...there is probably some concrete around! I dont think I ned as much rock as the bags will produce...maybe we could split them up.
  9. yeah, GARF is where I got the idea. sounds like some sand, and concrete mix...and start getting creative. did you see the one they used a rubber glove inside to make caves? thats what I want to do....I may tackle that in the next month or so...got a new sump coming, but after that, the next step is more rock. can those that have done it post pics of the final product? and would you recomend that over buying about 30lbs of LR?
  10. so I have read all about it, and it sounds easy.... anyone tried it? I want to do it...I could use about 25 more lbs of rock in my tank just wondered if it was worth doing
  11. well, if its too good to be true...it usually isnt, but I have their PC lights, with no issues....however, it was my first set of SW lighting, so I have no comparo. I have 265w of PC now on my 55, and would like to start looking for a future upgrade. what suggestions do yall have...is it worth going T5,VHO, or just go all the way and do MH. thanks
  12. well, the price is right...should I be concerned? (55g btw) http://www.aquatraders.com/index.asp?PageA...PROD&ProdID=275
  13. i would much rather support local reefers...please let me know when they are ready...I will take some got any pics to keep me in suspense?
  14. i actually found that attaching the air hose (for starting syphon) to the U-tube using a (cant remember now the exact name) but it will let you suck air out, but wont allow anything to back flow - help on the name anyway, you can glue it in place and just suck air anytime you need the syphon started...the valve was at my lfs for like $2 hope that helps
  15. So, zoas are my favorites, but I want to get the ones that are blue/grey or red/green etc. where can I get the best deal on some awesome zoas? is it better to buy frags and let them grow? let me know, I have seen some amazing colors out there, and my tank is looking all pinks and purples...i need color peace
  16. anybody....beuller? i gotta get rid of these. got like 6 more. taking all offers, a mushroom, a zoo frag, xenia frag, etc....
  17. well, so my ghetto sump has got to go..... ie - rubbermaid sitting inside my fireplace (tank and stand are right in front of my fireplace - who actually uses one here anyway) my stand for my 55G is oddly narrow, so I cant find a container that fits inside of it...sooooo, time for a custom job. Anyone ever done this? I need ideas, costs, suppliers, etc. I am guessing that all I need is a "box" built tht fits in my stand....I use an overflow box into it, and a return pump back into the tank. thanks all
  18. need some schoolin... what are the benefits of this stuff? what are the negatives (if any) I dont have any actual plant life in my tank, but I think it would help with the natural effect if I did...
  19. hey, if you havent seen it before.... go to reefvideos.com WOW!
  20. i cut my lights down to 10 hrs actinic and 5 hours of both.....and it made a noticable difference in 2 days...I think I had the lights on too much before. I am also much more cautious now as to how much food it going in there.
  21. do you think my corals could tolerate the lights being off for a day or two, or should I just lower the light times to like 3 hrs a day until it goes away? I tried an expirement yesterday....let only the actinics come on...I think the red algae has gotten better just by doing that. or its just my imagination.
  22. hey my 55g is fairly new (5 mths) and I am having a red algae breakout. Is it my light schedule? 265watt PC blues come on from 12 - 10 12k daylights 1-7 thanks sidenote -- here are my lights ...anyone had these? I think my blues arent blue enough http://www.aquatraders.com/index.asp?PageA...&ProdID=13&HS=1
  23. I have never had one, but always wanted one...may give it a shot. I will paypal you $10 right away if you are interested. I could meet you somewhere after work tomorrow (weds)
