  1. carlos, which tank are you talking about....i have your store memorized
  2. well, as most of you know....I use a sea clown skimmer that is just not working anymore. i am getting lots of algae on my glass....I can see all the snail trails on it...and the red algae/bacteria is coming back. is this results of my crappy skimmer?
  3. robert...because the sump sticks out in the back a few inches....the collection cup actually is just about clear of the stand, so height wont be too big a deal unless its over 22" I think anything under that can tilt a bit, and be clear of the stand $288 is not unreasonable....I think I will order that one...gonna have to wait till next week though.
  4. ok sorry....final question on this go to : http://www.petstore.com/ps_searchItem.aspx...&itemsonpage=60 let me know what a few of the good ones are on that site....for a 55g tank. would like to hover around 150-200....maybe more if its really needed. I need to hurry up and decide!!! thanks
  5. if I go with a euroreef...is this the right one for a 55g? I think I can get away with 21" height... http://www.petstore.com/ps_viewitem.aspx?i...dproduct=ER1231
  6. so what about this....it says its just like a euroreef...can this be good? http://www.aquariumpros.com/p-ASMG1.html
  7. wow, i read the post....most people dig it can i see pics of what it looks like in a tank?
  8. So, anyone have or had these? I am looking at purchasing them (used - but barely) Just want pros and cons if you have them 2 x 150w 10,000k 1 x 130w dual actinic 6 x lunar leds 560 total watts http://www.current-usa.com/outerorbit.html thanks
  9. so, my rocks have been curing for like 4 weeks now....ph was like 9 last night....i wish I had a way to put these in a stream or lake....
  10. not to jack your thread....but is it true that if I moved from PC lights to MH lights on a 55g the power bill would skyrocket? once I upgrade skimmer....the lights are next, so I am already studying t5/vho/mh need info
  11. well, I figured it was too good to be true. i hear what everyone is sayin about getting a nice euroreef or something..but its just not in the cards right now. I have $150-$200 to spend. back to the drawing board....anything will be better than this seaclown
  12. So, back to me looking for a new skimmer....I got some recomendations from people here, and Im not doubting them....but I have a chance to pick up one of these Aqua C Urchins for a good price. here is some specs on them http://www.proteinskimmer.com/productsnew.htm just wondering if this is a good product. I am mad that I went cheap and wasted my money on a seaclone...yet I still cant drop $300 on a nice skimmer thanks all
  13. it is diy agrocrete let me get some pics up, and that way you can decide what you want. again, these are un cured (well, they are in water now...but only about 1 week into it....so you will have to cure them yourself. pics coming i swear those that have made this stuff....please post pics, comments, curing times....anything
  14. Hey As some of you know, I made about 50-60 lbs of rock for my setup. I started curing the pieces I am going to use, but I have alot that either doesnt fit what I want, or is just extra (some even just rubble) so, I am not going to cure these left over pieces, but if someone wants them, they can have them....just soak them in water for about 6 weeks (some say less) and then 2 weeks in saltwater...then they are ready. these would be great to fill in holes, use as base rock, or perfect for frag rocks. I will post pics of them when I get home, but I just wanted to go ahead and post....they arent "show" pieces (I am keeping those but they are good fillers. nate also, I have alot of portland type I/II cement left over that I am willing to trade for frags - I bought a 94lbs bag, and used like 15-20 lbs of it.....so lots left over
  15. the rock I made is straight crushed oystershell/sand/portland cement. just started curing it (bout 5 more weeks) so no corraline growth....only thing I can actually offer is I could give up 3x the rock you are wanting to get rid of. so it would be fresh, with no corraline, but you would have more. no biggy, I just made more than I can use, so I wanted to find a use for it.
  16. would you care to trade the rock they are on for some LR with no corals? Just a though cuz I just made like 50lbs of LR!!!
  17. where should i get the sand from, and is there a specific brand. how much regular sand do I need in relation to actual LS...or do I need any
  18. so, concern.... I used play sand that I got from homedepot in my sand molds....so the outside of my rocks...has that sand stuck in it small amounts, but that sand is in my rocks is this an issue? I will be curing in FW for 6 weeks, and SW for 2 thanks
  19. ok, so here are some pics....not great cam quality though...had to use the camcorder camera. http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i77/dies...ie/IMGA0090.jpg http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i77/dies.../IMGA0095-1.jpg http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i77/dies...ie/IMGA0096.jpg
  20. p.s. can I go get some cheap sand from like walmart/homedepot....and just go to the LFS and buy like 2 cups of their LS and put that in my fuge? also....how deep of a sand bed should be in the fuge....when I do the CC to LS in my display tank....I really only want like 1.5 inches of sand in that. thoughts?
  21. I have let the rocks "cure" for 24 hours under sand (in the mold) and fro 48 hours under water. This is supposed to make them as stronge as possible. I know that they need to be in constantly changing water for atleast 6 weeks, then, into saltwater for 2-3 weeks. I will start testing PH after about 6 weeks and see what the deal is. when I get home, I will pull them out of the water and take pics....I had one that I used a half inflated rubber glove inside of the mold...it turned out very cool. pics coming so, no one on here has done this yet? I actually wanted to use the rest of my mikx...make a TON more, and start trading rocks for frags...or something like that. If these turn out to be great, I will post my exact steps. btw, anyone think of any reason not to cure them in the toilets? that is by far the easiest...let me know if there are any negatives to this....to either my plumbing or the rocks. thanks
  22. I was thinking of that...putting some regular sand in the fuge now....the rocks wont be ready for about 8 weeks anyway. that sand should be LS by then. Also, what if I started taking out a few cups of CC each week until the big overhaul....would that make things any easier pics are coming...I just pulled the rocks out of the sand molds this morning and put them in a wheelbarrow of water to let the concrete harden to its fullest. my mix was 1 part portland I/II, 1 part play sand, 3 parts crushed oyster shell. they look pretty cool....so far robert, if you want to try it...dont buy any cement....I bought a 94lb bag, and used about 5 lbs of it...you are welcome to some of it if you like, but I used all the oyster shell in the mix and the molds.
  23. Ok, here is the deal - 55g display tank - 260w pc lgihts - 16g sump - 16g fuge - CC - 60lbs LR I finally went ahead and made my own rock this weekend...turned out looking really cool, no now I want to totally re-arrange my tank (as soon as the new rock is fully cured) here is my question....I currently have CC and would like to move to LS at the same time that I go in and rearrange rock. Can this be done without too much disturbance to the inhabitants....will this start another cycle? what should I do. thanks
  24. cool, I will hang on to her then, and hopefully by the time she grows that big, we will have a place for her.
  25. well, after about 5 days, the popeye is gone. I really didnt do anything differently, so I think it was either from stress, or he bumped his eye while he was freaking out diving through all the LR holes. anyway...I feel much better...and she is so pretty. Now, for the bigger debate... I obviously got told at the LFS that the tang is fine in my 55g....but after reading the web, this seems to be a hot button. How big is too big for my tank? the tank is about 2" from nose to tail right now. thanks
