  1. things are a little tough for me but ill be ok. the thing right now is that as of '08 my buisness, or rather my boss's buisness slowed down a bit. i cant say for sure that its the economy thats slowed the stone buisness down, but in any case, its affecting me. i used to rack TONS of overtime every week! but now my boss isnt allowing for any overtime. im still making enough, but i used to make loads . i actually look past the economy, and blame my misfortune on the merger between taylor woodrow homes, and morrison homes. they merged to form taylor morrison homes, and when they did, they kept the granite vendor for morrison, and dropped us! that was a multi-million dollar a year account, so im positive it had a huge part to play in my lack of overtime... in spite of the slow times, my boss was still cool enough to give me a giant raise recently which is actually kind of a slap in the face because my wife is getting ready to quit work because were having another baby. its good to have the raise but its just going to go towards paying for what my wife used to take care of. all of that will go out the window in a few months hopefully. im trying to get a new job that at first will put me deep into a hole, but in the end will more than pay off! some of you might know that i applied for austin fire, and didnt make it in. i just applied for san antonio fire a couple of weeks ago, and if i make it in ill be taking a major pay cut. and thats when these stupid gas prices are going to do me in. its gonna cost me about $30.oo a day in gas to commute to SA and back every day for 6 months. im sure ill be fine though. ive got a small tank
  2. wow andrew thats a huge step, congratulations on the decision to start a family!

  6. from 9 untill 10 that night i sat in my backyard watching a storm pass to my north. it was pretty cool looking, but i didnt see a drop of rain from that one. at about 1 oclock the same night i was woken up by quarter sized hail for about 2 minutes and that was it.
  7. ive got a question. i did no research on ro units when i bought mine, and i lost the papers for it years back. its a spectrapure 60gpd MP/DI.... first of all, whats MP/DI stand for? i know what the di part is, but whats the mp part? and which blocks should i use to replace these old ones? i know that the di is a color change, but thats all i know...
  8. another tip for you. when using a router, dont touch the bit while the tool is running! you could lose the end of your finger! IME

  17. you shouldnt have to regulate your drain with a valve. and if you do have to regulate your return pump with a valve, you should use a tee to redirect water from the return area in your sump, to the drain area in your sump. that way the dirty water just passes back through the skimmer section. or, you dont even have to tee it all the way over to your drain area. you could just add a tee and let the water drain right there into the return area. the basic "bleed off" setup would be from the return pump to a tee, after the tee would be a valve on each end. one valve would be to control the amount of water going back to the display, and the other valve would be to control how much water goes back into the sump. if you dont have the 2 valves, there is nothing stopping water from going full force through the end of the tee that doesnt have a valve. its just a basic bleed line, and it will keep your sump full, but the water will still go just as fast through the sump. if you want to have less flow going through your sump you should get a smaller pump rated for less gph than the one you have now... you could simply use a valve right after the return pump to restrict the flow, but thats bad for the pump. its not bad to have a huge turnover through your sump. alot of people say that the gph going through your sump should equal the gph of your skimmer pump, but its all the same water, so if your skimmer misses some water before it makes it back into the display, its ok. just as long as there are no pockets of detritus settling in any part of the display or sump, it should be fine
  18. i thought the pic was a joke at first, but i will respectfully keep my imagination to myself seeing as i will be at your house on the 10th, and i dont want to make a complete *** of myself i think a partial *** is ok though, i hope? nice flower. you say it smells putrid? like what, rotten meat?
