  1. Dana, Good meeting you this weekend. Got the big chunk sitting in a 20g while I ponder what to chisel. But for buyers, I've looked closely (and will continue to do so) but the rock looks pest free thus far. Unfortunately all the good bacteria will die off when I start working on it, since that'll take a few hrs out of water. But that's OK. Thanks again.
  2. How often, if at all, do you have to scrape film off your glass?
  3. I'm interested and pm'd you. Gotta fig out when I can goto wimberly
  4. Very helpful Timfish and Bob. I guess I coulda just ran my Hanna testers with the lid open and looked lol. But the explanation is so much better.
  5. That makes too much sense. I always wondered how varying light levels, types, locations could provide a constant read.
  6. This hobby, while great, can often be overwhelming with anecdotal and empirical data. But sometimes I just wonder how/why things work the way they do, but don't have time or energy to ask "why" since the answer doesnt really matter. What random, even "stupid" questions have y'all wanted to know but never had time to ask? Here's a few of mine: Q. How do Hanna checkers actually measure the light? Does it measure whats going through the digital display? Should the single point light source ideally sit directly above the checker? Directly in front of the digital display? Q. When one has undetectable no3 and po4, but still has algae, the common response is that the nuisance algae consumes the nutrients before you can test for it. And that it also consumes it before your GFO or corals can absorb it. Have there been any experiments done that measure the rate of consumption of no3 and po4 that various mediums consume? It would be cool to see the rate differences b/w dinos, cyano, GHA vs. GEO, corals, etc.
  7. I think all the sellers here are drooling about the available acreage on your land development lol.
  8. Nice. Definitely interested. I'll browse it build and for sale link later tonight. Is it just soaking in RODI?
  9. All, I'm looking for some larger pieces of Pukani rock for sale. More sppecifically, 1-2 larger 10-20lb ones would be ideal, but am open to anything.
  10. Jolt, Things are looking good. I still need to schedule a time to shop in person! What is your targeted alk and No3? Do you dose No3 with Spectracide, or is your feeding enough? Thanks for your response. I'll hang up and listen...
  11. Unsure if youre still QTing your Blonde Naso. Mine started off eating the first 3 days and ate everything from NLS to nori and mysis. After Prazi it went on a hunger strike for 4 days. It now eats alot, but only mysis and it ignores everything else oddly.
  12. Maybe you can mold/disguise it as dead Acro skeletons, since fish has been attempted already.
  13. I want to put Nori on a clip and leave it there 24/7, but that would be an ammonia nightmare. What's a good live macro algae that Tangs eat, which I can find locally and leave in my QT that won't rot? Maybe even grow?
  14. Well I got back today and the Naso is at least attempting to eat mysis/nori bits but just spits it out. Interestingly enough, what belly looked pinched this morning now looks plump? Is that possible without eating? Do Tangs get gas lol? Either way, I want to do a water change but part of me wants to wait till after the 72nd hour.
  15. Thanks. It is a pretty big fish for that size tank. That's why I planned to dose Prazi early on, so I could transfer it to my DT sooner rather than later. I'll do a water change when I get home.
  16. The naso is swimming around and its dorsal fins are responsive to stimuli. It also isn't showing any stress spots or darker coloring, nor is it lethargic like my other one that died in QT earlier. I've been watching it on my Nest camera from work. Here's a few screenshots, even tho its not too clear.
  17. Aquadome has had alot of them the past few weeks. I've seen anywhere from 1-8 for sale at all times.
  18. Jolt, QT is the 20g long I got from you. Did a 100% sanitation of it weeks before adding the fish, but its been seeded with a sponge that sat in my DT sump for 4 months. I doubt its Ammonia but I guess the badge could be wrong? I did remove the carbon, but may put i back and do a 25% water change if its still not eating by tonight.
  19. What are y'alls experience with Prazipro and hunger strikes? I have a 4 inch Blonde Naso that ate alot, like 30 NLS pellets and 100+ pieces of Hikari Mysis and nori during the first few days of QT. So I decided to dose 1tsp into 20g on day 3. It's been 60 hrs and the Naso still refuses to eat everything it previously consumed (mysis, Masago, nori). The other two fish (Flavogattus Anthias and Baby green chromis) are all still eating. I know ppl say it can take weeks, but im starting to see a slightly pinched stomach. In the past, the most a fish ever went on a hunger strike has been a day.
  20. I think that's a valid concern and smart of you to think about it that way. If you prefer to not test things daily/often or dont want to get an APEX, I'd avoid getting a CaRx. Granted in the long run, your need to test Ca/Alk may be slightly less with a CaRx tuned in, I still would expect an APEX to be necessary.
  21. Good lawd. I'm exhausted just reading that. So does your freshly mixed saltwater match your targeted parameters? If not, I get a headache imagining...... Good night. Can't believe all that
  22. Oh and by the way. Very helpful for you to post this. If only you posted this earlier, I wouldn't have PM'd you so many times
  23. Good to know the colors change for you too. All of mine normally turn brown or white hahah. But now that my CaRx is getting tuned in, ill see how else I can mess them up. In all seriousness. I really intend on buying 50% Maris for my build. I hope this Indonesian stoppage is short-term, because all of the options are going to be much more expensive then $50. Then maybe, if I can prove to myself that I can grow stony corals at a good rate, I will look at substituing quality/high end for them. But im not even thinkin about that.
  24. Beautiful. I hope one day my corals look as nice as yours and other ARC members.
