  2. oooh...I'd forgotten about that.
  3. I'll jump in if anyone is going to order. want to try a powder blue tang from them. James
  4. April, it was great meeting you and seeing your beautiful tanks. Everything is looking great in my tank! James
  5. PMd on the two mushrooms and watermellon z's.
  6. WOOHOO! I got selected for the AI Director beta program!

  7. when this happened to mine i put it in a deep tupperware container and attached it to the side of the tank with the edge below the water line so it could get some circulation. I think it took about a week and a half to two weeks for it to recover and it finally crawled out on it's own. I immediately started using the foam covers. Luckily I did because about month or so later it released and was blown by the current and went tentacle first into the other powerhead. luckily I saw that right after it happened and got him off of it without any damage.
  8. Very cool to see where everyone works. I've been at Dell for 17 1/2 yrs now. I moved to Nashville in '99 when we opened that office and spent 3 yrs there. I only ended up back here because I got a job offer that included a relo package. When I got back is when I really got back into fish...got a great deal on a 120g from RCA and I've been supporting that habit ever since. Been doing federal sales for the last 6 yrs. I can attest to what Niko had mentioned...when the layoff rumors start going you never know who'll get hit and if your number is gonna be called. I've always been lucky and in the right group. Now that I'm in fed sales there's a lot more job security because we can't outsource any of our positions...it all has to stay here in the US!.
  9. I'll let you know a soon as i've got him. I've never seen him go more than about 3-4" off the bottom so he may be safe in your tank.
  10. will he just swim in or do i need to bait it?
  11. Anyone know of any way at all to catch a diamond goby? I want him out of my tank...I'm tired of the tank looking cloudy all the time and worried he'll cause an avalanche! I'll give him to anyone if they want to attempt to catch the little sucker! James
  12. I got a piece from Roy a couple of months ago and it's doing great!
  13. I've been seeing more and more little sponges pop up. It doesn't see to be irritating the undata. I'll just leave it for now.
  14. yeah...that's an undata...look just to the lower left right under the edge of the undata.
  15. the base of this thing is hard but the rest of the body is soft. It has what appears to be a mouth or opening just below the two little tentacle things. The tentacles are about 1/4" long. Even when I removed the entire frag from the water it didn't retract at all. When I found it last night I used a flashlight to check the rest of the tank but didn't see anymore.
  16. Well, after about 3 days in the tupperware container the nem finally crawled out and spent 3 or 4 days on the glass under the return nozzle. It finally moved and seems to have found a spot it likes. It spent 3 days there, moved yesterday and moved back to the same spot today. Over the last week I'd noticed my clown taking more interest in the nem. He'd swim by, stop and look and swim off. After a couple of days he started getting closer and would stick his head in between the tentacles. Well, I'm sitting playing a video game today and glance over and at first I thought the nem had caught something and was trying to eat it. I was wrong. Looks like the clown has decided he likes the nem and is hosting now. He'll wriggle around for 5 or 10 seconds and swim away. Wait a few minutes and go back and do it again! I had hoped this would happen but wasn't holding my breath!

    Hello

I'd done FW for more than 15 yrs and could set up a tank blindfolded. Last year I decided to try SW and after what I thought was a successful go at a 28g nano cube I decided to replace my 120g tropical tank with a full blown reef ready tank. I did research like everyone suggested, watched lots of videos and read lots of blogs / forums. One suggestion I would make is to go visit someone with a full set up and have them explain what everything does..that's one thing I didn't do. Sure, I'd ask questions on the forum and people would provide great info and pics but seeing it in person will go a long way to your success. I think it would be very beneficial to get a grasp of the entire set up before you start your plan..which is really like a house blueprint. Like Victoly said it's best to do it right the first time...I'm picking up a couple of pieces of glass today to alter my sump to get a little better flow. If you're up for a trip to Hutto I can give you some pointers from a "newbie" perspective James

    Hello

you came to the right place...there's lots of really really smart people here! :-) Do as much research as possible before starting.
  19. Wildman, mine is looking like yours. I was surprised how much larger it looks after it gets comfortable. And Ty here's a pic of the purple haze...it's a little washed out...still trying to learn to take pics but you can see it's much brighter than when I got it.
  20. Thanks for the zoas and fungia. They've already seemed to make themselves at home James
  21. I added a new BRS carbon / GFO reactor but that was after it had started to decline. I don't do any dosing.
  22. I've had LEDs on the tank from the beginning.
