  1. Do I need to put you guys in time out?
  2. Is it a Milwakee control? I have a Milwakee SMS122 pH monitor. Mine set to cycles on at 6.8 and cycles off at 6.6
  3. Well, we finally got the DYI calcium reactor built and installed last weekend. Thanks mainly to Robert and Cindy Manning. We installed in the lower cabinet of our entertainment center. Complete unit before installing the hose barbs: Installed: I was having a major problem keeping the dKH up. I would dose a cup of B-Ionic A&B twice a week. Yes I test for dKH and calcium. The calcium would stay around 400 to 420 but the dKH would fall from 8 to 5. I even had it as low as 4! Now with the reactor up and running I hope to see this problem go away along with some outstanding coral growth and polyp extension. The dKH before adding the reactor: 4° Calcium before adding reactor: 415 3 days after adding the reactor dKH - 6° Calcium – 400 So it looks like things are improving. Keep your eyes out for the DYI Calcium Reactor post.

  8. I agree learn everything you can do with your current camera. I have won this contest using a Canon A30 autofocus camera. Knowing your equipment and having an "eye" is very important. Lenses and accesories just help us expand our knowledge. I have a Nikkor 55mm f2.8 macor lense I bought back in the 80'. I can use it on my new digital if I shoot in manual. My 2 cents. . . Dave-
  9. I have bought and had acrylic cut at Lowe's. Not sure if they would cut a piece from outside the store but it's worth a call. Regal Plastic may cut it but sometimes they are finiky. Dave-

  13. What test kits are you using? I suggest the seachem kits for Mag & calc. I also suggest Elos for alk. You can Epsom salt (pharmacutical grade at HEB) to raise your mag. If you don't have a cal reactor I suggest dosing with a two part solution (I use B-ionics). Book mark this page (Reef Chemistry). It is a great chemical additive calculator. A find it a little bit more accurate than the bottle lables. On the iodine I use on capful per 25 gallons every third day (for the shrimps). +1 on raising the salanity. You also may find this calculator handy. Salinity Adjustment What are you using for top off water? I also agree stability verses a magic number is must important. I hope this was helpful. Dave-
  14. I apologize for the lateness of the post. Get your lawnmowers out because it's time to trim those turf scubbers! Announcing the August meeting at the home of Dave Osmar aka renman303 Be advised Google map indicates the wrong house. This should be a great meeting, we'll be discussing how to build and the benifits of a turf scrubber. Hopefully we can get John from Kingfish to come by and talk about the 225 gallon tank, it was designed for this applicaton. Please RSVP to this thread is you are planning to attend.
