  1. I would recommend the Seachem test kits for Mg and cal. They come with a reference to make sure your test materials are ok.
  2. I use the 2 part EVS B-Ionic. Component #1 - Carbonate Alkalinity, Component #2 - Calcium Concentration I try to keep my calcium at 400, My kh at 8 and my magnesium at 1400. You will need to test for calcium, magnesium, ph, and kh. All are effected by calcium additives. I use this website to figure out how much of each additive to add. Reef Chemisrty Calculator Hope this helps.
  3. Our Harlequin eating the leg of a chocolate sea star.
  4. Mark - the meeting was a great success. Lots of folks trading and buying frag. We learned a lot. It was great to put a face to a name. I finally got the see your tank with the halides on. It looks great. I too would love some of those yellow zoas (maybe we can make a trade). OH and tanks for taping our tank. It real gave a different perspective. We did realize how far the tank has come. We'd love to get a copy. Thanks again for hosting the meeting. Dave & Robin
  5. I quess it's a whatever works for you situation.
  6. I hsve three conch and I changed the flow several weeks ago. I will put the powerheads back to where I had them along with the 3 day black out. I'll keep every one posted.
  7. I've photographed my frags to bring with and posted the mother colonies in this post. I would, if you could, post the potos here but this is not a hard and fast rule just a suggestion.
  8. Bulbs are less than 3 mopnths old.
  9. Thanks for the advice. I think I will go with the 3 day blackout. Should I also turn the light off in the fuge? I have it on an opposite time schedule.
  10. Over the last several months I have been changing my photo period from 8 hrs a day up to 12 hrs. I am currently at 10 hrs per day. I have notice that my corals have colored up considerable and growth is great! I know have an outbreak cyanobacteria. Other than syphoning out the bacteria and doing water changes, is there another way to help get rid of this stuff?
  11. Yes, it is a timer for up to 4 powerheads (10 seconds - 6 minutes). If I didn't already have a Red Sea Wavemaker on my 29 that is where I would use it.

    Corals!!

Is the 1" ORA Pearlberry $40 still available?
  13. Wow, the tank looks awsome. Thanks for posting. I have a 29 and want to change it up.
  14. Nice start. Your tank should look awesome as the corals grow out.
  15. Yes, it kept the detritus moving around so it could get to the sump as well as create an ocean like swell in the tank for the corals (instead of a constant on). This lasted a while until the motors started running backwards. It was the design of the Koralias not the wave maker. I had in the 150 and had the timer set to about a 10 second interval. You can set it up to make an actual wave by using two power heads.
  16. I understand they will work with anything except the Korilias.
