    torches

This woman is right! I had a brain fart today. Y'all are right, I did not mean elegance, I meant galaxia.
  6. I have 5 different Koralia's for sale. They are all around 1 to 1.5 years old, and work. All, except one of the Koralia-1's, have a direction attachment and guard with it. I cleaned all of them with vinegar for a couple of days, then water+dechlorinator. Prices: Koralia-1's: $15 each, 2 for $25, all 3 for $35. (If wanting less than all 3, please specify if you want the direction attachment) Koralia-3's: $30 each, 2 for $50. I am located in Buda, and work in SW Austin. But I am going to the meeting this weekend, so prefer to deliver there. The whole crew: Koralia-1's: Koralia-3's:
  7. It probably will as long as they can reach it. I was thinking of something like pellets, but I don't see why algae would not work.
  8. You will probably have to drop some food in there every day or couple of days for them to not starve prior to the rock coming.
  9. 1) Kinda looks like clove polyps... do they retract at night into a mat? 2) Yeah, does looks like kenya tree that is not fully open.
  10. The live rock should add enough bacteria in the system to kick it off. For kicks, you could add a few hermits to roam the desert until the rock work gets there They should be able to handle the cycle that will ensue once the live rock is added.
  11. Yes, that does sound like a good starting point with the doing.
  12. I thought there was a "max" dose on the bottle (don't have them in front of me). For my 75g I am adding 2 TBSP of each, every day (or so ... when I remember ). But I am doing this as just a regular supplemental addition. So I would do the max (or less) per day until you reach the calculated amount you need to add, or until your calcium reaches the level you want.
  13. I would check out Web Wet Media, they seem to talk about everything

    torches

I don't think that is a torch, but an elegance coral. Elegance are cool, but you have to watch out that they have very long sweeper tentacles that can reach about 6 inches or more from the polyps. They tend to have a viscous sting, but if you have the space, they are a beautiful coral.
  15. Things are arranged to babysit the coral
  16. Heh.. sounds familiar I am itching to set up a seahorse tank, but I told my wife that I won't do it until our fall trip. Heater/no heater is a bit of a personal opinion. We have members here that run without them and don't have problems. I personally always had one (and still have one in my 75g) in there for the winter times just in case. But we have had people whose heaters exploded in the tanks and killed off everything...
  17. Yep, I am planning on it. Don't think I will have frags to sell (haven't had time to thin out my zoas), but might be there with some used Korlias.
  18. How long has the light been out? Corals can go a few days without light (see the "3 days of darkness" threads that people do to rid nuisance algae). Of course the corals will look all deflated, but that is normal night-time behavior. If it is going to be more than a few days, I would be happy to help. I have have room in my 75g sandbed with the rest of my frogspawn.
  19. Most all in one tanks have a "sump area" in the back of them... basically it is a false wall in the tank that gives you room to put pumps, filter media, skimmers, etc. Heck, some people even fashion a small refugium back there. The only issue some people have with these type of tanks is heat. Since they generally have a hood on them, they tend to warm up in the summer. When I had my 24g aquapod, this wasn't too big of an issue. I made some slight modifications to the hood (added an extra fan, cut out some vent plastic) and it kept it at around a max of 80F. Leaving for a week shouldn't be a problem if you have some one to feed the fish, and maybe add top-off water. Of course, if you are really worried, we do have a tank sitting/maintenance service as a sponsor
  20. Yeah, looks like an orange ball anemone. I have a lot of them in my 75g, especially int he shady areas of the tank. I am on the fence on pest/nice debate. They don't seems to bother zoas too much, but they do multiple quickly.
  21. Welcome! I would think any of the all-in-one nano tanks would be a decent starting point for a beginner. Normally the rule of "the bigger the better" applies, but the current generation of nano tanks have pretty much everything you need to get going.
  22. You can also correct some of that with image editors on your computer. I took the above and ran the "auto white-balance" with GIMP and got this: It didn't make a huge difference in this case, but did brighten up some of the colors.
  23. I believe 10K's are too yellow for most people, so I would hate to see what 6.5K's are! I personally have tried 20K's and 14K's. I must say I am not that impressed with the 14K's (even though they are Phoenix, so they are more blue). I think I saw about the same growth under both (granted I keep zoas and LPS... no SPS), but my LPS and anemones seemed happier under the 20K's.
