Offroaddodge builds the best stands I've ever seen.

Those crystal light energies are great. On a day I'm dragging I switch from my bottles of fruit2o to plain water with a crystal light packet

Sounds odd but I had luck dropping from 250 to 200-205 by going into early stages of ketosis. If I start exercising I'd drop more but I'm really lazy.

I kept mine at 80-82 and got great growth. I've got a softball size colony with two mini colonies coming off. Now that my tank runs a little cooler 78-80. Growth has slowed even with more feeding. I'm thinking about swapping my sump CFL for a clip on HPS to add heat and macro growth.
Did not know they were a picky coral. I got them at a good price and as my beginning coral. They also went through getting shocked by a light that fell in for 4-6 hours.

Is it the white or actinic that stopped working?
If its the white light are the fans running when the switch is turned on?

"Fish used for cycling is stupid in this day and age. To kill those fish and then say "remove them from consideration because they died to old outdated techniques is a bad outlook."
I'm not afraid to say I cycle all of my tanks with fish. Guess that makes me a stupid, bad person. It's their choice to do what they want to do. Nobody has a right to judge someone else based on their technique that they decide to use. I had to cull off about 25 Convict Cichlids. At the high school. With none of the reccomended ways to do it. I wont say how I did it.. But it wasn't pretty or fun. I must also be a bad person for that. I tried selling them. Heck, I tried giving them away. Had no choice.
People should have the right to do what they believe is proper, without being judged for it.
Just no reason to put a fish through unneeded stress if other known techniques exist.

Usually cheaper to replace fish than buy a generator that can power an entire aquarium
Obviously. Preventable with back up power if you value your livestock. Why are we making a big deal about a power outrage killing fish? Don't we all know this happens? It's part of the hobby, if you have that many tanks and loose power it's obvious fish will die...
One fish, yes. But we are talking a Genny vs replacing multiple lives.

Wow.... just wow. Can't drive 2 min to get your stuff?

Yeah I don't form too much off of it just following up on previous comments. I do form opinion on there past convictions and history

Death log shows power outage causing death
-
Is the present Austin Aquarium without power back up to critical systems?
Patrick
I don't know but the sister aquarium apparently kills fish when power dies.
-
Lol price was dropping slowly as it didn't well then goes up $5 during garage sale.
-
My tanks will survive power outages because I invested money properly into bubble boxes and generators. A business as large as there should easily have an auto flip generator to prevent these things.

It is not a witch hunt. Its pointing out multiple errors on their end that they refuse to address and try to hide.

One interesting thing I found in one of the many articles, likely posted by Brian, for an aquarium to get Texas certification for state restricted animals they have to be AZA accredited. Of course, that only applies if they try to get animals that are protected by the state.
Only applies if they try and get them legally and with permits/certificates lol

What happened to the mantis?

I've got the 75 gpd version from buck eye. Its great.
-
just run a line brah!then youre not having to replace 2 sets of filter.
I could do that, but im lazy and dont want to punch a bunch of holes to get the line up here, nor do i want a 75ft+ line running through my house incase it ever breaks or gets hit by a nail/screw. filters are cheap, my TDS is 035 going in here. They last a long time on one filter set.

There is a sign-able petition on change.org to have the AA become AZA certified. Surely everyone here can agree they need to be AZA certified. Weather your in the boycott camp or the AA camp, AZA can only HELP the animals.
A link to the petition to sign is here https://www.change.org/petitions/the-austin-aquarium-obtain-an-accreditation-from-the-association-of-zoos-and-aquariums
I encourage everyone to sign it, regardless of how you feel about the aquarium.

Are there any units out there that produce like 20 GPD? I'm trying to find a small rodi unit just so I dont have to carry 5 gallon jugs from my unit downstairs. Rather have one for the downstairs tank and a separate for the upstairs tank

It does not show they wanted to do it right, it shows they got caught.
You don't have to believe a former employee. You might be more inclined to believe the federal government who has removed the puffins for lack of permit, and successfully prosecuted one of the covino brothers for obtaining animals without a permit. they then went on to build the AA without proper permits. At best, it's a pattern of willful ignorance. At worse it's malicious.
