    Chiller

That's a great idea. Love to see the pics. What type of hose did you use? What about using just a mini freezer? Man, you got me thinking.
  7. I'm with Mike on this one. My 58g has two small fans (no chiller). One runs when the actnics go on and the second goes on with the halide. (They're hardly necessary during the summer months.) Home thermostat stays at 72 in the summer and tank has never been over 78 over the summer months. In the "winter" (or whatever you call it here. I've seen winter. This ain't it. lol) months when my heat is running the tank will reach 80-81. My solution: For summer months Turn the thermostat down a few degrees more and chill out all your tanks (and yourselves) (It will take a good while for the increased electric bill to meet the chillers price) For winter months Open a window. There you go. The fish will thank you. The dogs will thank you. One more small note of interested to you young couples to put away for future reference: Don't buy any more chillers after the Mrs. hits say 45 or so. You won't need them. Trust me. My house is "chilly" all the time now.

  12. I have some xenia your welcome to. I live in NW Austin (Milwood) Give me a call. Steve 461-3120
  13. Joseph and Bob- Thanks for the offer but I'm going to go with the "photo meeting" instructor. Gabriel, I've seen your camera and pic taking skills and will take you up on your offer. Just give me a call when you have some free time. Thanks, Steve 461-3120 P.S. . I don't have any "unique" frags to offer but if you call me the day before you want to come by I'm sure I can wiggle a cheescake out of the Mrs.
  14. I have a cheapo camera and would like to have some decent pics of my tank. I offer frags (or a minimal amount of $ since I have that "funzaloo" disease again) to anyone willing to come over (I live in Milwood-NW Austin) with a decent camera (that, unlike me, knows what they're doing with a camera besides point and shoot) and takes some pics of my tank. Just let me know. Thanks, Steve
  15. From July Reefkeeping online magazine. I thought these were pretty funny. Add your own thoughts. Top Ten Things You Think Your Friends Are Thinking While Watching Your Tank... 10) When he said he was a reefer, I thought we would be getting high! KEstep of Amarillo, TX 9) If this guy put half as much money in the bank as he put into this tank, he would be able to buy a small island by now! atwinparadox2 of Pennsylvania 8) Jeez! And I thought it was his wife that kept him from the bar the past few years. Ventura67 of Augusta Twp., MI 7) If only he spent as much time cleaning his house as he does cleaning his fish tank, maybe I wouldn't be standing on a pile of dirty laundry right now! shyland83 of Oakdale, Long Island 6) How long do I have to look at this so he thinks I think it's cool? brettperkins of Chino Hills, CA 5) What I think they're thinking: "What a marvel of modern aquaria! John has done an excellent job putting together a beautiful slice of a living coral reef." What they're really thinking is: "Look at the pretty fishies!" JFugett of Tampa, FL 4) I thought when he stopped drinking, got a sponsor and picked up a new hobby that his obsessive behavior would diminish. Boy, was I wrong! ordy1 of New Jersey 3) They're wondering how anybody smart enough to figure out how all the hardware, plumbing and electrical systems coincide with each other, and who knows the latin name for everything alive inside his tank can be stupid enough to spend that much money on a freakin' fish tank! swimboy123 of Jacksonville, NC 2) He spends $10,000.00 plus on this reef tank, but when I invite him over for dinner, he brings me a miserable $5.00 bottle of wine! Jkevin444 of Pittsburg, CA 1) It really needs one of those plastic bubbling divers, though... Serk of Rowlett, TX
  16. Yo' G, Everything looks great. Wish I had a decent camera. If your bored take a ride by and check it out. (I'm sure your wife's thrilled with me already with me being the last person you talked to last night and the first this morning. LOL) To those of you who haven't seen Garretts' tank, go. To those who haven't purchased anything yet, go. Now. Today. I doubled my SPS frag population today. Thanks again
  17. Thanks for the info. I picked one up today. They're still $30 and worth it.
  18. Broke down and bought my own glass hole saws. 4 Bits for bulkheads 3/4, 1, 1 1/2, and 2 inch. Now I just want to drill holes in all my tanks. lol
  19. Dave I have some scrap acrylic your welcome to. Should be plenty to fix that crack.
  20. Never repaired acrylic so can't help there but have some clamps if you need to borrow them.
  21. Kat, Basically, each person picks players (a draft) to form their team. You compete against the other teams in your league. Scoring is based on how your players do in their actual games vs. how your oponents player does in their games. That's the simplified "girly" explanation. lol
  22. Football fans, Let me know if your interested in the First Annual ARC FF League. If there's enough interest I'll set it up and we can have a live draft at my house. E-mail back and I'll keep you posted. Thanks, Steve
