  1. Thanks all, I'll give Ezra a call.
  2. Anyone know who drills tanks in Austin? TIA
  3. Welcome Adrian, I'm basically new here myself but it's a good group of people and they're more than willing to help. Good to know in a few years we'll have a marine biologist in the group who'll be able to identify all the rare and exotic corals we have in our tanks. Good luck in school. Steve
  4. I went to this site: http://www.atlantalightbulbs.com/fulhamwire.html looking for a wiring diagram for my Workhorse 5. I'm retrofitting 2x39W T5's into a canopy. Wiring Diagram 9 is the one listed to use in this configuration. On that page it talks about running the lamps in series (referring to Wiring Diagram 6). And as an added bonus of confusion, wiring diagram 9 on the Fulman site shows a picture at the bottom right corner for "wiring jumper detail". I know, my fault for reading the directions. "My brown eyes HURT", (Reverend. Jim Ignatowski from T.A.X.I.) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. (question also posted on MAAST)
  5. Thanks for the tips. I see this is one of the few areas of fish/reef keeping that hasn't changed drastically in the last 30 years. Nothing like good old elbow grease.
  6. I have to agree with Gabriel. I've been looking into drilling a tank and everything I've read says you can only drill through NON tempered glass. I found this link helpful. http://ozreef.org/diy_plans/techniques/cut...s_in_glass.html
  7. I bought a used tank (glass) and sump (acrylic). What's the best cleaners for: 1- getting deposits (calcium, etc.) off glass 2- cleaning acrylic in general Thanks in advance for your input.

    SPS Frags

Brian, Thanks for the frags. They look great. (Even the 1 birdsnest I got which is now two frags after I dropped it taking it out of the bag). Klutz. To anyone (especially us newbies) needing various frags I strongly suggest taking a ride out to GreenMakos. Their tank is beautifullll (can you hear the envy in my voice). The only thing better than their frags are the prices he asks for them. I know I'll be back. (I just have to remember to bring my water bug collection next time I go) thumbsup.gif

    SPS Frags

Brian, I'm going to ride out tomorrow with Joseph and spend some $. He mentioned you've got a larger piece of Blue polyped birdsnest (one he reserved) for $25. I'll take it. (and I'm sure other things once I get there). See you then. Thanks, Steve
  10. Joseph, I'll pickup later tonight or tomorrow what we spoke about: 1- Lime green skirt with brown rings and baby blue centers. Each rock has 50 plus polps and 25.00 each 2- Leave glow yellow green and center glows hot pink on a large live rock. 25.00 Thanks
  11. Bought in a local department store. Hardly worn (my wife wanted a watch and once bought decided she didn't like wearing one. Go figure. lol) Pictures don't do it justice. No scratches on crystal. Wanted in trade: 250W Metal Halide Light E-mail with any questions. Thanks
  12. Mike, here you go. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...36602&rd=1&rd=1
  13. Has anyone used a diamond plated reflector for MH lights? I'm trying to make a reflector for a canopy for a 250W MH. I saw a light in Lowes with this material that I could cut to make at least three reflectors from, so the price is right. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks, Steve

  15. Joseph- I'm reading this thread and laughing. Being new to the "reef" end of this hobby I figured it was my imagination that when I rearranged the frogspawn my hand felt "strange" when I was done. I figured it was just dry from the salt. Guess it wasn't the salt after all. Maybe it's those fish "CRANK" supplements you feed them. Careful, you may wake up one day to a giant frogspawn hanging over your bed looking for his "fishCRANK" fix. blob7.gif Again, thanks for all your help.
  16. Gabriel- "If', "probably", "OK" and "change colors". Sounds like I need to wait for acros. Sound like "No Halides=No acros". I know your selling and I appreciate your honesty. Thanks, Steve
  17. Gabriel- I'm running 384 watt PCs (no halides) on a 58 Gallon. How do you think the acro would do under this lighting? Thanks, Steve (newbie to the reef end of this hobby)
  18. Joseph The frogspawn just opened right up. When I shut the pc's and turned the moonlight on it "glowed". Teal 'shroom spread open nice and wide. Looks sweeeeet. Great looking stuff. "I'll be back" for more. Thanks Steve
  19. hey Joseph, Save some stuff for the guppy. lol see you later

    Hey All

Gabriel - I'm pretty open at this point since there's little in the tank currently. I'm open to suggestions. Joseph - I'll see you later today.

    Hey All

Just a note of introduction. My name is Steve and live in NW Austin (Milwood) Looking forward to trading with you'se people (that's yankee for ya'll) as my tank progresses. Right now I'm in stocking mode. Any frags available to purchase (since I have nothing to trade yet)? I purchased a frag from a local member here, JohnG. Beautiful frag and John was more than happy to talk to me about my tank in regards to lighting, etc. and point me toward the local websites (ARC, MAAST). He was very helpful and I recommend purchasing anything he has available in his tank. His tank is gorgeous. Till we meet. Be well, Steve
