based on my readings lastnight, it looks like the xport is actually working. Was at 0.33 last week. when i cleaned the frag tank out, it counts as a 10% water change... so minus .03. I still have the redsea po4-no3 at a very slow rate, so expecting .01-.03 drop from that... 0.28-ish is what i was expecting. It tested at 0.20. I did lose my fireshrimp in the frag tank... i guess from the ph swing when i added the xport. when i check next week, we'll know for sure if xport is working or this was just a fluke. (nitrates 0 this week, was 1-2 last week)
  4. my schedule looks pretty open most of the week after noon daily. this weekend got busy out of nowhere!

    Isaac's JBJ45

mystery solved. i was breaking it down to throw in the recycling bin. i noticed one of the top "covers" had a chip on the corner. I guess when they just threw shtuff into the tank and let it sit in the garage it must have hit the inside enough to cause damage and not be able to SEE it until pressure was applied. bleh.
  7. I have a plethora.. many overgrown and starting to stick together... more you buy more im willing to drop the price

still fighting GHA in my frag tank. I just put about 400g of this in the overflow chamber of the frag tank after my sponge: https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/xport-po4-phosphate-absorbtion-media-brightwell.html I plan on changing out the grates and cleaning the GHA this weekend, we'll see if these "special" rust lavarock looking stones are any better than plain GFO!

    Skimmer

well, most recently, i used the skimmer to do the post-chemiclean waterchange. just replace water as it took it out. worked quite well. skimmer returned to normal the next couple hrs. 1st 2 days skimmer wasnt on at all.. only air stones.

    Skimmer

it'll do that w/ chemiclean. if you didnt say that, i woudla said you need to raise it out of the water a couple inches.

i got around to cleaning the glass around the crack inside the tank... there is nothing i can feel as an impact point... really a mystery

when i picked it up, it was in the garage, kinda smelled of cat fur. the glass lids sitting inside. I think at some point they must have klinked the glass lids to the side. i cant feel anything noticeable there however. they also stored it incorrectly on the stand, something could have hit the bottom corner as well. in the nextdoor picture, notice the overhang on the left side... thats the side that cracked. im very bummed, was looking forward to this tank, glad it was free however.
  13. welp, the jbj45 sprung a crack on leak test... the reboot... continues.

woke up to this.... glad i tested it, definitely sucks.
  15. been using it for years... but im not 100% sure on their phosphate levels. My phosephates are holding around .35... but with my increased feeding, i am also increaing dosing, havnt figured out which it is yet... i have so much crap going into the tank lol

propane, until i get the natural gas kit.
  17. So this reboot has been going pretty well. 2 blue damsels, some crab, and 2 conch(es?) But alas, when a better tank falls in your lap: http://www.austinreefclub.com/topic/39862-isaacs-jbj45/
  18. It began as a free nextdoor post.... got it home for leak test.. using acrylic magfloat for now until the vinegar cycle.. cardboard to show leaks easier: the sump/DT divider popped off... glad it did NOW and not once stocked. I plan on replacing the biocube in my office w/ this.
  19. hows it compare to brineshrimpdirect? im due for a new bulk order (8 cubes a day kinda puts a dent in the stock)
  20. seriously, where are you keeping ty and how much you ransoming him for?
  21. yea, but you had been drunk and freaked out and pee'd in the tank... what do you expect?

guess its a perfect time to show my modifications and house hookup... removed gas tank, made a basket for cables... added meters (3d printed mount) and wired to the house. i had to paint over original writing, because i had to move breakers around...

this puppy saw some action lastnight. If you have any UPS's this will power, you have to set their sensitivity to "low." The way a generator works, it only supplies as much power as requested. the UPS was flipping between line/battery indefinately because when the UPS flipped to line, the genny added more power, then the UPS saw this as power is back on.. back and forth. anyways, my time was filled lastnight while on geny power. got 4 ups's reconfigured. also, hooking this up to the house mid-downpour w/ lighting cracking everywhere is freaky as hell.
  24. my generator was nice lastnight. hooking it up to the house in 2-3"/min downpour... not fun. also, i think my neighbors might hate me.. thing is loud.
  25. not if you dig a small hole he falls into and he cant get out. or setup one of those outdoor playpens for kids to trap him. plus, i was gonna use his copy of the keys
