  1. How would you feel about the clown and an SPS for the large container? No trying to be greedy here
  2. Russell Glass in Gtown built my custom made sump tops as well. They do great work and very inexpensive. Not sure if they have Starfire glass? Mine is basic green plate.
  3. I have both a 30 gallon and 60 gallon barrel that I need to get rid of. I don't want to mis-post this so, without asking for money (unless that's what you have to trade for these items) I would like to get some SPS or LPS in trade or perhaps some fish. I have one Oscellaris Clown and would like at least one or two more. I also want some schooling type fish either, "Anthias" or "Fire Fish". These barrels are clean and ready to use. I have used them both on my 225 setup. I just have three of them and don't need the other two. I also have a 55 gallon tank that is sucking up space that I'd like to get rid of as well. Dave
  4. I don't have a very established tank but will certainly talk about trades or cash. You are welcome to come take a look at anything that you would like to barter for. It would be very nice in my barren 225 gallon! Dave
  5. Yea, my ATS is going great guns. Algae is almost 1/4" long on two, 2-sided sheets. I think it takes about 3-4 months to really get to full growth. I have pics of the initial setup on my blog. Congrats on the new job! I may have to join you if things don't get waayyyyy better soon. We are even talking about moving as Gtown doesn't seem to appreciate what they have. Call me for reservations. Friday night we are having "Cactus Groove" a 40s-50s Jazz ensemble in the restaurant.
  6. Things in the reef are great. Got my diatoms cleared up and corals are really starting to grow. The Philapine Sea Apple is alive and well and feeding daily without the use of Phyto. I made my own food mix for the various inhabitants like the Blue Line Wrasse's, Naso Tang and various other fish. I used a flat pack of Sally's Brine Shrimp, with 2 sheets of Dried Nori that has been cut into 1/4" squares, and either Cyclop-Eeze or Daphnia. I just mix all this mess together and put it back into my used mini-cube trays so I always have portion control. Boy, did I go off into left field????? Anyway, Turf Scrubber is rockin' like Dokken and growing, well....like a weed! I think it's helping with the water quality although I have not unplugged any equipment.
  7. I have an "Aquatek 25w" that I paid $160. I'll let it go for $100. It's about a year old and in perfect condition. Here is what it looks like: UV Serilizer
  8. Get a "Two Little Fishes" canister and a small mini-jet 600. That is what I use in my sump. AquaTek has this. Perhaps, "Partners" in Round Rock may have the canister. I know Adam carries the pumps.
  9. I would get MaxiJet 1200's. They put out 295gph, are small and work great! Two would do the trick for your tank.
  10. I have a LOT of Devil's Hand Finger Leather's that I'd like to trade. One of the Leather's is about the size of a softball. Also, some Gold Polyps as well. I'll trade for fish, cucumber or other SPS/LPS. Dave
  11. No problem with Plumbers Goop...same as Super Glue in terms of performance.
  12. From the album: Algae Turf Scrubber

There is a piece of L.R. in the bottom of the bucket mainly for balance but more rock can't hurt?
  13. From the album: Algae Turf Scrubber

The "red" line is from the Rio 2100 on the input side of the sump from the tanks overflow. The "black" line is the gravity fed return from the Turf Scrubber into the return of the sump leading back to the tank. The return to the tank is fed by two Eheim 1262 pumps.
  14. I use "Plumbers Goop". They sell it at Wally World. It's in a purple tube. I've sealed pipes with water running through them on the spot!

    Cyano Bacteria

Various pics of Cyano in my 225. I have a Tunze Wavebox, Tunze Stream, SEIO 1500, Mini Jets....In a nutshell, lots of water movement. DKh is 9, Calcium is 400, NO PHOSPHATES as RO/DI is testing at ZERO for TDS. So, what causes this to show? This is the second outbreak I've had since January. I do 10% water changes...weekly! Note that my Birdsnest Coral is literally turning white and is dying from this. I've heard that it's phosphates. I have zero. However, I have never seen any definitive information on this bacteria?

    Encrusting another victim.

    This stuff is everywhere!

I do have a small Hair algae issue but most of this is Cyano Bacteria.
