  3. This is my first time to post the blog, I am little awkard with this. ^_^ I want to shares with my tank to member of ARC.

Little stories of my saltwater hobbyist. In November of 2006, my first saltwater tank was 37 gallon tank from petsmart. I was not smart enough or expert in saltwater. Bought tank from Petsmart with sale. I only have 37 for 3 months with 35 lbs of live rock and 40 lbs of indo pacific sands. Febuary of 2007 I browsered the Horizon Aquarist store and first of thing I got attention by 75 gallon tank. My eyes was opened wide and decided bought it. Now I has 75 gallon tank since Febuary, I was very paitence and little step by step to imporve the tank with better stuffs. last month, finally upgraded to 6

Now I have paired ocellaris, Lawnmower and Yellow Tang and inverts.

  4. Howdy,

I have to make this short.. I have to do with prep for session.

How long you use two little fishes carbon in the sump, two weeks top? or a month? I recalled that randy mentioned that 14 to 21 days to replaced the carbon with fine mesh bag?

I can't ensure remember if this correct?

    good day!

  5. I just wanted to see how my yellow tang was doing. He hasn't posted in awhile.

    Hello karenm,

I know I have been so busy with my job, I working as tutoring for Math at Community college (ACC) and also Supplemental Instructor Leader (SIL) for high risk class, who has higher precent of withdrawn or miss the class many time, the result of failure on the grade. My job to keep student to get focus and motiviation on this college level math (Pre-Algebra to intermediate algebra). I am been pulled alot of time, 20 hours of tutoring and SIL, and also majoring in engineering. I haven't spend time to sat and watch aquarium and haven't chance to exchange the water yet for two weeks.. That's sad... :D Maybe I have set up on the calender that one day as "sunday" Aquarium day! to doing and exchange the water, clean.. etc....

Sunny are doing great... eat alot and swam around... she has " little scare " of anyone walks by or my three cats which walks pass the tank. Sunny tends to disappear anytime if anyone who pass... There is no problem for me... Give Sunny enjoy her free time while no one present to observe or watch the sunny at that time of hours from 8 am to 9 pm...

I will try at my best to post the picture of sunny at blog.. if I have to find the time. :D

  6. I would be willing to help you, if you showed me how to remove scratches. I am picking up an acrylic tank tomorrow and the owner said it has a few scratches. I don't know how bad they are yet. It is MUCH smaller then your endeavor, but I could still use your knowledge. PM me if you are interested.

Another Tank? what size do you plan to get? You should earn the $$$ from admission.. " James' Aquarium" cool.gif

  7. IMO, I would. If you have good lighting in your fuge, it might make it. What kind of lighting is it under?

I use PAR38 ( unsure what is K, possible 65000k or ??) bulb from lowes for refuge, my chaeto love it. The light running 24/7.

  8. Thank Cindy, I find at google.

    Codium edule limu wawae'iole (Chlorophyta)

    Features:

    Soft, spongy to touch

    Forked branches

    Dark green

Lies prostrate, frequently attached to substrate and rubble

Description: Fleshy, felt-like, dark green plants, 1-2 cm diameter. Soft, spongy to touch. Branches repeatedly forked. Branches lie prostrate and attach to anything on the substrate, forming mats incorporating bits of coral rubble, rocks and shells.

Habitat: Codium edule is common throughout the islands and is found intertidally to subtidally, 2-4 m deep, but most commonly subtidally.

    C. edule is a popular edible seaweed sold in markets in Hawai`i. Its Hawaiian name means rat's foot, after the appearance of the thin, cylindrical branches.

So should put in the refuge?

  9. We have actually tried to grows this macro algae before and it didn't work. I would keep it.

I have Chaeto in my refuge and grow a big, I think I have to trim to small size to grow again, if you want some?

In main tank there is a little differnt. not alike macroaglae?

  10. Wow! Looks like a mutant hammer. I have never seen anything like it to be honest. :D

I know me too, First of thing I saw. Befroe the time there was small I don't pay attention until I saw Big one. I find other one too, behind the tank. I guess I have to pluncking it out like chicken! :)

Not kind of hair aglae but bright green aglae bloom, must be trigger by new bulbs I added to 6X54 watts from 4X54 watts.

Phosphate come 0 ppm. I added Phosguard with activite carbon. If these will help reduce.

  11. That the green stuff in the center of rock.. other small green stuffs is not hair algae. Feel like wirebrush, New bulbs changes and sudden bloom!

Yellow Tang, will be nice but can be in 75 gallon tank?

I check google about Halimeda, that is not look alike to this one.. I will take a good picture when I done with charge the battery.

  12. The stuffs has grown fast on the rock, I don't know what is it? look so ugly and how I can remove it out of the rock, the location is near the overflow box. There is easy to remove or difficult?

First I saw last few month, I didn't bother to check it out until today I saw how it big there are.

  13. I bought green tip anemone from RCA last friday and put in tank. I put the anemones in the place where I want. Yesterday I can't find aemones, until afternoon I found that green tip was behind the rock, I wonder how I can get anemone move to front of tank instead of back? I can't move the rock because already attach with expoy glue.

Do I need turn the powerhead point toward to anemone? will make it move dto different place?

  14. I looked all over, but I have a huge tomcat and 2 chuhuahuas in the house. If she jumped out, she didn't stand a chance.

Same to my six line, he was jumper, Randy from RCA told me that something that freak six line out and shoot out the tank during night time or early morning. Could be spooky from crab or something..

  15. Mako's tank was one of mine and naka and invincible are from the same manufacturer. Email me at [email protected] and I'll get you a price for what you want.

    John

would to have eurobrace instead of rimless? Rimless is look nice but canopy on top of tank, pointless to have rimless? what is your opinion? 36 width is more fraigle, reduce to 30 in instead of 36?

    Ron

  16. John,

My mistaken, I planning to look for custom tank, look for about 200 to 300 gallon tank. My thinking about 60 or 72 X36X24. That why I ask for name for custom for my future tank. Maybe in a year to replace my current 75 gallon. Tank of mako, naka and invincible569 really inspaired me alot!

the website you give, I like it but there are not have any 13 inches height with long length. The tank will be only corals.

  17. Howdy

Anyone knows where to get custom tank, can you give me some point to where. so far I already know glasscages, I heard rumors that have some negative about glasscages. Other company? I can figure what the size for our next tank. Compare from the custom tank or the standard tank (i.e Oceanic, Marineland, etc) price and size.

I don't mind to have DIY tank but the glass itself cost twice than standard tank or custom from glasscage. before the quote I got from glass Co. for 33 gallon and rimless cost me 245.00 for 5 (3/8) sheets of glass.
