  1. I don't have any right now, but I know the dome always has a bunch. RCA also has some right now.
  2. The pics and the tank look great. You have got some really nice colors. We were using home made tripods for a long time. I finally bought one at wolf camera in the mall. It isn't super fancy, but it was only like $30. Well worth the investment.
  3. Thank you. I will try the kalk paste and see what happens. I will let you know.
  4. On our 110 we have a euro-reef skimmer. The thing is great! It pulls all sorts of thing out of the water. The only issue is, it stinks up the entire garage. I know most people have big skimmers in the house. How do y'all deal with stinky skimmate? I remember reading some where you could use kalkwasser in the cup or maybe it was baking powder. I can't remember and I can't find in thread again. thank you james
  5. Search nano-reef.com for catfish reviews. A lot of people on that site have tried them.
  6. Your tank looks great! I am glad to hear things are going better.
  7. Check out this thread http://www.austinreefclub.com/index.php?sh...&hl=chiller
  8. Sweet. I was thinking about the piranha, but I guess not. That ez blade looks pretty sweet also. thnk you
  9. I just got done with 2 days of no light on the tank and the cyano went away. The corals were a touch unhappy with no light, but they are cool now. I did leave the refugium light on so none of the macro would go sexual. I just hate cleaning up after macro has turned.
  10. We need some magnetic cleaner advice for our new 110. We have had OK luck with Magnafloats, but is there a better place to spend our money? The tank is glass and I am not sure exactly how thick. The three requirements are it be magnetic, floating, and pretty big. Also, does anyone have experience with the EZ blade attachments? Thanks for your input. -james
  11. Andrew, You have no idea how jealous I am of your streaming web cam. Looks great!
  12. Super cool pics. I really like the third one.
  13. Well I guess I am second with the same advice. I will leave it since I already typed to out. Welcome to the hobby and the club. 1)Light depends on the type of coral you would like to keep in the tank. If you want to keep stony coral then you will need much more light. If you wanted to keep some less light intensive soft coral then you will not need as much light. From your description it sounds like you have a normal output florescent on the tank right now. I would recommend getting a high output T5 fixture. 2)Definitely keep the live rock. It acts as your filter and the corals grow on it. I would even suggest getting more LR. The general rule of thumb is 1 lbs/gallon. 3)Your filtration and tank size limit the number and size of animals you can have. I do not see a protein skimmer in your list of equipment. If I were you I would incorporate one into your system fairly quickly. 4)No. In fact they do exactly opposite and add to the bio load of the system 5)I would say the amount light and flow would be the big two differences. Your method of filtration may change if you go full reef. They target water parameters are also less forgiving with corals then just fish. To really help you out, it would be helpful to know some other things: Do you have a sump? Do you have any kind of mechanical filtration? What type of coral do you want? LOL you got there first
  14. I guess we don't have to worry about the stress of a water changes any more.
  15. Hey, guys and gals you waited long enough. This tank is free! Of course, any coral frags, fish, macro algae or stuff you don't want will be accepted as trade. I have some various accessories I can throw in. Here are some pics:
  16. I agree with joseph. I just converted two tanks into reef ready. My advice would be buy one step thicker acrylic then you think you need and cut it with a good table saw. After that the silicon part is super easy. BTW binswanger(sp?) glass drills aquarium for 23.50 a hole. If your bottom glass is tempered you can drill the back side instead.
  17. That was my next steps, but boy is it scary.
  18. You can definitely siphon out the slime. Sometimes the slime remover works and some times it doesn't. I would check your phosphate level. I currently am dealing with a cayno problems. It is growing right where the flow hits the sand. The parameters are perfect. I am going to test my ro water next we make some. I also threw in some phosphate sponge and will be adding carbon tomorrow. Carbon pulls tons of stuff out of the water. Finally I will be shortening the light cycle. I will let you know if in win. best of luck
  19. That crab is super awesome! Do you think he would eat one of the gobies. If not I would be willing to give him a good home or we could see if he is faster then the bird wrasses.
  20. I use teflon tape on everything. It makes a huge difference and its super cheap.
  21. Get some Halimeda sp. macro algae. It uses tons of calcium. River city has some right now.
  22. Dude, super cool! That really gets the camera out of the way!
