I went through this same exercise about 2 weeks ago. Have you gone through the Continuity check on the harness?
http://www.icecapinc.com/downloads/cont_test.pdf
If you have done this and confirmed continuity then the ballast is to blame. Unfortunately the only 660 I have is in use.
I would be happy to answer any questions though.

I did see a few polyps peeking out last night, so I am feeling better about the situation.
-
I tried the hydrogen peroxide technique last night on a colony of AOGs that had not opened in probably a week. Hopefully whatever was messing with them will be remedied by the h202 dip.

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually went to try your method when I got home tonight and was very surprised when I first plugged in the cord and the lights lit up! That's great news since my ballast is good.
I think that my endcaps are still problematic and will be looking to replace them in the near term. I can handle 3 sets of endcaps over a new ballast.

I have been troubleshooting my lighting setup now and think I have it narrowed down.
By doing a continuity test on my wiring I determined that I had more bad bulbs than I thought. I also found that a couple endcaps were not making contact with the bulb pins. Once I got those issues straightened out I finally confirmed continuity throughout all wires. I plug the harness into the ballast and fire it up, but once again 2 bulbs light for a fraction of a second and then go out.
I rechecked continuity once again to make sure I didn't miss anything and it all checks out. I am down to the ballast as the culprit, but would love to confirm the theory before going out for another 660 or similar T5HO ballast.
Does anyone have a spare 660 that they could loan me? Any help would be appreciated. Or of you have any tips for anything I might have missed.
Thanks.

Lamont,
I am glad to hear that things are looking better for you.
I have some monti cap and anthellia that I would be happy to donate. I also have some birds nest that I could frag (the same that you gifted me back when).
Let me know if you will be around this weekend and I can drive across the street and drop off some goodies.

So true!
From speaking with Mark, here is my short list of aquarium needs:
- auto top off system
- vortech pumps
- LED lighting
- Reef controller
-
Are they hosted by soft coral (anthellia, xenia, etc) by any chance? My clowns that are hosted by antellia had something that looked similar. Searches revealed that it should be harmless if that is what is happening.

Details on the ballasts and bulb length?

I am predicting that TheKiph adds a dwarf Lionfish tonight! Heck, after seeing Brooks's tank I want one too.

Hey Maxine, how it the temperament of the fish especially with regards to corals? LPS, SPS, softies, zoas?
What is the reason for re-homing?
-
The new Petco north in Pflugerville on the toll road also has a saltwater section. I bought my pair of occellaris clowns from the Parmer store and have not had any problems.
-
Dang Stephen, I am going to have to make another visit to your shop to see that awesome Tang and see what other frags I need.
Great looking fish to go with a killer tank!
-
RenMan, you have a PM.

Same here. I regularly find these guys and don't have any problems that I can tell. They stay holed up during the day and come out at night to chow down. Normal part of the environment that we are trying to replicate in my mind.
