  9. I am predicting that TheKiph adds a dwarf Lionfish tonight! Heck, after seeing Brooks's tank I want one too.
  10. The new Petco north in Pflugerville on the toll road also has a saltwater section. I bought my pair of occellaris clowns from the Parmer store and have not had any problems.
  11. I believe that Birdsnest (Seriatopora hystrix) is a good beginner SPS coral. Another good one would be montipora capricornis. I have been growing both under 3x39w T5HO and have had no problems.
  12. Thanks for the frags Stephen! That is an excellent tank and I could have spent another 1 hour looking at all the coral, fish, shrimp, etc.
  13. Great video post Mark! It's a simple fact that kids love fish tanks. All 3 of my kiddos enjoy the tank. The oldest (3) likes to stand on the step stool and claim that he is a fish worker. My middle one (2) loves to point out the snails in the tank. And my youngest (5months) gets great head control exercises when I hold him by the tank or park him in front while in his walker. Not to mention the benefit of using the "kids love the fish tank" justification to leverage for a larger tank. I mean seriously, who would deny their kids the learning opportunity that a great reef tank provides? My 65g was great when there were just two kids, but really, we all know that kids need a minimum of 30g to be happy and healthy........so I am planning on a 180-200g system. That should provide plenty of room for enjoyment in the years to come before they outgrow that system.
  14. That is a nice looking setup. My 3yr and 2yr old boys really enjoy the fish tanks and especially like going to the fish store. I imagine when they get older they will have their own fish tank to take part in.
  15. I was looking at picking up an Eshopps 12"x4" frag rack or perhaps the corner rack, but I figured I would post here to see if anyone had something they were looking to get rid of. Thanks.

  22. I had a few small aiptasia that I kept battling with. I would squirt them with vinegar, which would knock them out, but I would find more later. I picked up 3 good size peppermint shrimp from Mama and have not seen an Aiptasia in my tank since.
  23. I know it sounds silly, but are you sure the bulbs are seated properly? Also, what kind of fixture is it? Retrofit, or off the shelf type unit? It could be a ballast issue, but without swapping it out with a good one I wouldn't know how to check. I know that with my retrofit setup when I changed bulbs recently they flickered and then went out when I powered up. It turns out that one of the bulbs wasn't in correctly. Your LFS might be able to help diagnose also. Good luck with it.
  24. Wow, they have some incredible pieces. A visit to AAF would be a great experience.
