  1. There is no such thing as a dual ballast (that I have seen anyway). All ballasts are single, but you can put more than one in an enclosure. You will be fine using a dual ballast for a single setup as long as it has two switches (which it should). If not you might have to rewire it to remove one ballast from the switch. Either way you will have a spare ballast if needed. Of course trading for a single will work as well.
  2. I had RTBA's for a long time and they would park right under the halides (175w) less than 10 inches down. I had great success keeping them and had many splits. The only bad thing about anemone's is that sooner or later no matter what you do they start to move around the tank, or they split and the daughter colony moves. For some reason they usually pick the most expensive coral in your tank to park on. Good luck with the recovery, I hope your BTA makes a come back.
  3. Mine was freaking out around lunch time, but I thought it was just me.

    Spare MJ1200?

I just picked up a AquaC Urchin for my tank and need a MJ1200 to run it. Anone got a spare they are dying to get rid of?
  5. I wouldn't try to keep one without at least one metal halide. They are light lovers IME.
  6. I just sent a PM to the RC staff (Beerguy) that can get it done. Who do you want as a contact (email and name) or I can just sned my info.
  7. I can get it done if we want it. I had the forum set up for my last club.
  8. Has anyone thought about applying for forum space on Reef Central? They have quite a bit of traffic and who knows how much Austinites (is that a word?) are wondering around looking for a home.
  9. You don't want anything in a bag any longer than you have to. Your clown will be fine a couple days (or forever) without an anemone, so wait until you have a whole day to devote to getting another anemone so you have plenty of time to acclimate, and are not in a rush. Heaven forbid you wreck your car while rushing to get home or something. Anemones do best (in the ocean ) in mature tanks, so if you already have one that is not doing well I would hold off and find out why before possibly losing #2 to the same reason.
  10. Thanks for hosting! Kind of a drive for me, but it was well worth it!
  11. I am definately interested. Unfortunately I didn't get around to checking the website until this afternoon and the wife has me booked for the rest of the night. I might just head on over to Aquatek since I can spare $4 a pound for what I want.
  12. I just set up my tank and am looking for a little live sand and a small piece of live rock (coralline encrusted preferrably) to seed my tank. Don't have anything for trade, so free would be nice or maybe a trade for some of my rare greenish dollarish collection.

    58gal oceanic

Sounds good. I work on Parmer and I35, but probably wouldn't have time to get over to your area until the weekend.

I might be interested in the skimmer. Does it come with the pump (needle wheel)?
  15. Sixlines are constant hunters and are pretty much always out and moving during the day (when the lights are on). If you haven't see it in a day or two I would fear the worst. Have you checked the floor behind the tank?
  16. The last two meetings I said I was going to make it, so this time there is NO way possible I will be able to attend. (hope to see you all there!)
  17. I have used IO from the start, so I don't really have much basis to compare, but I have never had any issues with IO. I did dabble a little, but only when I could not get IO and was in a pinch (like spilling 30 gallons on the floor).
  18. Do they sell Weld-On? I need a couple pieces of scrap and some Weld-on to close up two holes on the back of my sump so it will hold more water.
  19. Did that come from SoCal? I had one just like it in my old tank. It split every six months or so and was super hardy. I would love to buy it from you but I assume my tank would need water in it first. Bumposaurus...
  20. Thanks for the offer Joseph. I ended up going a different direction.
  21. It wasn't too bad here in Teravista, but the lightning was a little much. I think it hit something one street over, and it already burned one house down this year. My ultra accurate rain gauge (ok it is a lawn elf with a water gauge) said 3.5 inches last night.
  22. Anyone have a spider reflector laying around they want to get rid of? I know they aren't much new online, but I am trying to save some $ where possible.
  23. How much for the lighting? Ballast type, bulbs? brands?
  24. I only have two 5g buckets and don't feel like making 9-10 trips to Cedar Park for water. I guess I will just be patient and get the RO/DI unit setup. Maybe I will give River City a call and see if they will loan me some containers.
  25. Anyone got a easy method to transport about 90 gallons of salt water? I would really love to get water into my tank this weekend but I don't have a RO/DI yet and I don't have any containers bigger than 5g.
