  1. In as well for at least $30. A buddy may be in as well; will update when I hear back.

I need to withdraw mine. I had assumed "Austin" and I didn't read the entire thread (near bottom of pg. 1 - Buda Pickup). I'll glom on to another if it's a mid-to-north-Austin group buy.

  2. Howdy. I'm looking for two fish recommendation for my 34gallon Solana. I want swimmers, those that constantly swim about, around the tank, in and out of rocks, etc. I have or had a neon goby (percher; suicide), orchid dottyback (hider; poisoned); yellow watchman (burrower), and clown (hosters). I don't want big fish, maybe an inch or so in length. Do you have any suggestions? I was thinking of a 6-line wrasse for one of them.

  3. Howdy.  I'm considering upgrading the stock skimmer to the AquaC Remora.  It's a HOB, but the advantage besides being a good skimmer is that it isn't dependent on the water level in the rear chambers of the Solana.  My stock skimmer is loud, but the upper seam split a month or so ago.

I've seen references to people using it in the Solana.  I'm curious if anyone in ARC has used it, and what their opinion of it is.  I'll be hooking it up to one of my Maxi-jet 1200s.

  4. In my order to Reefs2Go, they were supposed to send me two 1-inch male clownfish (or mated pair). They have been fighting and has really picked up over the last few days. They are both very ragged looking, scarred, and ripped fins (the pectoral fins of one are almost gone). How long do they tend to fight to establish female/male dominance?

I'm wondering if they are actually both females and that Reefs2Go screwed up on the sexes (they screwed up the sizes--they were 2-inches)?

  5. If you have a white/gray 18%/black laminated or plastic color cards, put them in your tank and snap a few pics to get the "true" colors. Then you should be able to set custom white balance on your camera (see docs) with that, or use a tool after the fact to set white balance by using an eye dropper on the cards.

  6. Overall, I'm not entirely pleased with Reefs2Go. First, I'll say that the gave me a huge coral; much bigger than I was expecting given the price. That and the nice tree sponge are the upsides.

I specifically requested small, 1" clowns otherwise to drop it off the order. They labeled the bag as 1" clowns, but they were 2" and change. Secondly, I got the blue rics buy 2 get 1 free (all bags labeled blue ric). The one blue ricordea was a good size. The other two are smaller than a dime and I question if they are actually blue. They are so small, I can't tell, except that they fluoresce differently under the actinics. Also, the mouth is yellow compared to the green mouth on the blue ricordea.

    Cheers,

    Chris

  7. Howdy. Has anyone in ARC successfully battled red wire algae (Gelidiopsis)? What methods did you use? The two I've read on wetwebmedia is a) increased weekly water changes (which I'm loathe to do); and b) reduced feedings.

    Thanks.

  8. Amphipods & Copepods - 500+ $16.99

    Maroon Clownfish - White Stripe x2 - $17.99 ea

    * Two small (1") males or mated pair

    Red Chili Cactus Coral $31.99

    Orange Tree Sponge $14.99

    Blue Ricordea 3 for 2 x2 - $10.99 ea

    Total - $121.93 less 10% = $109.37

(*) I want small clownfish, so if they do not have/can't fulfill the maroon clownfish order, then drop them off the list.

  9. 1 Mithrax (not emerald), 1 Peppermint Shrimp, 2 Electric Blue HC, 1 Halloween Orange HC, 5 Scarlet HC, 5 Left-handed Zebra HC, and a mix of Nassarius, Nerite, Cerith, Trochus, and Astrae snails (about 15 non-babies). I have a 34g and you can see I'm have a good number. My favorite of the snails are probably the Nassarius because they breed--a lot. I always have little baby Nassarius snails doing work too, getting into those tiny tiny spots. That's it. No urchins, cukes, nada. No algae problems since cycle.

  10. Ok. I'll have to re-upload the attachment then since it will get culled.

After you clicked on the attachment, you could have hit the back button and retained your post data.

I recognize that. I closed the tab and couldn't do that.

  11. Howdy. I was composing a post and had an attachment. I previewed the post and then clicked on the image. Not paying attention, I closed the picture... unfortunately, it didn't launch it in a new tab and instead clicked through like a normal URL link. This means that I lost my post that was in progress. However, the image still exists on the server and can be referenced:

    http://www.austinreefclub.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=5745

I thought I would recover by re-composing my post from scratch and inserting an image URL with the above link. The forum rejected it because "that extension is not allowed". Ultimately, I simply linked to photo using an link URL instead of having the picture viewable in the thread.

I went under my profile and could not find the picture attachment anywhere. I went to the gallery (both the global and under my profile) and could not find the picture, either[1]. It still says I'm using 3.25MB of Unlimited... so it has associated that attachment with my account. By all accounts, it is lost, but is on the server.

Am I missing something (other than the attachment)? :)

[1] None of my pictures show up under gallery though, so I've got that going for me.

  12. From under actinics, but I didn't have a laminated color card to balance the colors automatically. The colors are close to accurate as I tried balancing it after. Thanks!

(For now, click through. There's something about the board that I'm missing.)
