Seems like a year ago there were gobs of people selling frags of these. I do mean the VERY neon green version that were being sold at some of the meetings and on-line. Anyone have some of these they would sell a few heads of?

And the limestone around here that is used in FW tanks and that sometimes gets used in SW tanks is not really that porous. I nice porous rock will weight much less than it looks like it should way.

You would be better off to either use Marco Rocks or to just buy a little bit of rock from a time as people post it for sale from an established tank.

Glad to see the club growing. Welcome and what part of our area are you in. Be sure and list any modifications you have made to your tank, post pictures, etc. The folks here love to see that stuff.

If even you used the existing sand, if the sand gets disturbed it can trigger this. Diatoms are normal and you should go through them fairly quickly. Don't necessarily need any cleaners for it as it is part of a normal cycle process and moving an existing tank does trigger some things that will cause diatoms and cycles.

Porous is referring to the density of the live rock. Good live rock is very porous so that a rock actually weighs a lot less than it would look. The more porous, the more surface area for bacteria to grow which is one of the major biological filters in our tanks. Also, the more porous generally the easier to mount corals and such to the rock, the more places for inverts and fish to hide.

Calfo's book "Reef Invertebrates" gives a great description of live rock. Some rock is formed from dead acros and you can tell by the shape, some from dead staghorns and some of all kinds of dead corals.

Florida Live Rock (aquacultured now) has a lot more life but a great deal of it is not necessarily desirable.

Kind of oak looking, if you spend some time on the top you can have a really nice stand. I was just using it for a 30 gallon that was holding live rock. I mean, why not give it a try rather than me throw it away?

This would work much better for you. You have a 55 Gallon and I have run this on a 45 gallon and it did a great job.

I have two buckets (5 Gallons each) full of black and white sand. This sand has been out of a tank for a few weeks so it is definitely not live sand. Great color combination with both black sand (which doesn't buffer) and white sand (which does). $10 for a lot of sand. Also have about 1/2 bag of unused sand for $5.

I have a stand for a 20gallon long or 29/30 gallon tank or less. The top has been wet and doesn't look good (could be replaced) and the rest looks fine. This is free.

I have quite a bit of live rock rubble still in heated saltwater. This would be great for fuge, mounting frags, and some pieces for a nano. I will say $10 for the whole bucket, $5 for half.

This is a great HOB skimmer with the drain mod and a MJ 1200 for juice.

The lid cracked once when I dropped the lid while cleaning. You can see it is repaired just fine:

Great news, River City to the rescue!!! Carlos had a panworld that was the exact same rating as the Iwaki. I will work on getting the Iwaki fixed as an emergency backup for myself and others!!

I am setting up my 225 and had bought a used Iwaki MD55RLT. Wired the plug and it isn't working a lick. First, I know the plug is wired correctly. Second, you plug it in and nothing happens, I mean nothing happens.

Does anyone have a similarly rated external pump (around 1200 gph with 1" input and output both are MPT)? I am so screwed. Not very happy to say the least.

It is 1:30 a.m. and I need this tank up and going for a big event at our house on Friday night.

It doesn't have to be Iwaki, but does need to have the 1" MPT outlet/inlet and the similar rating.

I love my Phoenix 14K bulbs. I have used both 150 and 250 watt bulbs on different setups.

I just sold a nice oak 55 Gallon setup off this site to someone a couple of weeks ago. There is a link now on Craigslist to the aquarium using the picture I took in my own living room asking $50 more than I sold it for.

Anyone in north Austin have a pair of Loc-Line Pliers? I really hate to buy one for just one minute of use. Or does anyone have a trick for taking some apart?
