  1. Man, 18" is awful narrow on a tank that long, really consider going wider!!! You would be better going off wider and shorter. 31" tall will be harder to light as well. 30" wide would be great!! Gives you space for large rock and plenty of room for corals to grow.

  2. Everybody oversizes their pump. Can you imagine the money saved on electricity and initial pump purchase?

I have a 225 Gallon tank with about 40 gallons or so in sump. I have a Panworld that does 1100 gph (265 X 5 = 1325) and I still could have done smaller. I have to throttle the pump back!!

  3. The pump may be cavitating. Do you have a ball or gate valve on the return side of the pump? If so adjust, to reduce flow and that should remove the bubbles. Either that or air is getting into the return lines? Do you have an siphon holes drilled in the return nozzles? If so, where, that may be a source of air depending on where you drilled them (just at water line, etc.)

  4. Short answer, not at all. I love hermits and have some awesome ones in my display, but the purpose of a refugium is to provide a safe haven for critters that would normally be eaten in a display. In general, sand sifting stars, shrimp, crabs, and cukes have no role in a refugium.

  5. Got Rock? I do! & Sand, Salt, Light

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As payment for some work performed, I received about 500 lbs of Rock. This was live rock and in a tank two days ago, but I didn't have enough tanks and saltwater to keep it in water. I dunked each piece in saltwater and cleaned them. I have some very large piece, lots of medium size pieces, and an overflowing 20 gallon tank of nano size pieces and a very small amount of rubble.

Hope it goes without saying, this should not go into an existing system but would be perfect for mixing with some live rock. There are some awesome shapes and sizes.

There is Fiji, some branches, a couple of shelves, and a couple of pieces of rock from Africa (can't remember name) that has the small looking bubbles all over (calcium formation - not an algae).

    Pricing is as follows:

    Large & Medium Pieces - $2.00 lb

    Nano Pieces - Nice - $1.00 lb

    Rubble - $0.50 lb

  6. If you get to where you just need a bigger tank to hold for a while until someone buys it, I volunteer my 225!! ; )

I would love to get it but really need to buy some equipment first!!

  7. Im going to agree w/ you also, that was a very bad location and bad history...the second owner had a problem on her hands when she decided to take over it. It like a pet shop in lakeway...its been going for awhile but is in its 3rd ownership and allways had a bad name. I give it to the last owner he was doing saltwater, freshwater, furry lil animals and repitiles and even took a big step and ventured into selling dogs and cats. A couple days ago I called them up to see what there salt water stock was and sure enough he said he was closing his doors, he sold the lot. Im going to head out there later today to see if any of his LARGE fish tanks are going to be on sale or if he taking them w/ him. Flippers Pets is what the place was called.

From what I understand, the owner skipped town with the cash and some critters, he left some dogs and like behind and will be charged with cruelty. Sounds like you are just a bit late!!
