+mcallahan
Hey everyone, here is a short clip from Sea Dwelling Creatures, a large importer of corals and fish that I visited last week while I was in Los Angeles, Check it out and please let me know: 1. Was the information valuable to you? 2. And why? Sea Dwelling Creatures Acclimation
Zarathustra2
I do not find it useful because the FLV file format is not supported by windows by default and I am at work trying to view this. I will check when i get home.

Gonzobob
I was morbidly concerned this would be an autopsy clip.
Reybeast
wow, thats bloody fantastic! Makes me wonder if we could create a similar acclimation setup in our homes based on what they use there? Also, I like to see the people I'm buying from, rather than "the company" being some nebulous entity in another state.
Zarathustra2
Link works now. Sent some feedback in IM. My main piece of feedback is getting the rest of the video you took there out. I love getting the inside peek as to how the business of aquariums works.
+dapettit
My undestanding is the supply 90% or more of the LFS in the US of A. i was lucky and was able to view these early at Mark's house. I was floored just by the size of the place! Dave-
Rgwiz11
Good Video Nice to see some of the effort put in by these companies and a "behind the scenes" look at where our stuff comes from. I'm wondering if the methylene blue the soak them in causes any side-effects that have to be overcome before they ship the livestock. I know that stuff can turn urine blue, and I'd freak out a little bit if one of my fish was leaking something like that Edited October 23, 2009 by Rgwiz11
Derry
No new info regarding techniques, although the super-slow pH adjustment was cool. Wanted to see more details (time in acclimation, full list of meds/treatments used in addition to the methylene blue he mentioned, cases for making exceptions to the "standard" process, etc). GKarshens
i wish I had known you were going there. I still have a $100 credit with them. I would have had you pick me something out. Great video by the way.

Great video by the way. Oh man! prof gets his fish from there so you could always talk to him. there was lots of good stuff there that'd like to have taken home. Luckily the camera was in my hand so that I couldn't reach for my VISA
JamesL
Neat video. Though, without comparison to how other places acclimate their fish it is hard to take the claim of "we do it better" super seriously. Though I must admit the computerize pH adjustment is neat. Laura
Nice clip Mark...I guess it was wise of them to keep you away from the corals????
barderer
Mark, How did you arrange your visit? Did you call ahead or do they have set times that they do tours?
+mcallahan
Mark, How did you arrange your visit? Did you call ahead or do they have set times that they do tours? They don't let the public in so I set it up through a LFS.
barderer
weird. I wonder why they wouldn't let the "public" in. I guess it would get to be a hassle after a while.

prof
Sea Dwelling Creatures is my supplier and I know that most (if not all) the local stores order from them. I have been very happy with the livestock that I have recieved from them. All has been well packed and shipped. Understand, they are a wholesaler, not a retailer. They do not take inquiries from the general public or sell to anyone without a business license. Thanks Marc for the inside look and a HUGE thanks to SDC for letting Marc in the doors to film! Robb in Austin
Nice to see the backside of the industry. My only nit, and I'm sure you are aware of it, is that it is a bit dark. Other than that, great job!
