SoonerFan
Well, I bought a used one for a great price. Plugged it in and it is producing bubbles up into the collection chamber at a ridiculous rate. I went to the website and downloaded an owner's manual. I have the rubber gasket set as low as possible so as to maximize the bubble column. After reading the manual, I did realize the microbubbles in the tank is normal for a few weeks during break-in. It does have the optional drain plug which I have going to a container, but it will be filling certainly within a day at this rate. Is this normal for a new one? Thanks, Lee
Dhayden
It will probably only take a couple days at max to get the bubbles out of the tank. The prizm acts the same way.
Noodle
Did you do a quick rinse/cleaning of the inside of the skimmer before plugging it in? Usually, some oils in the skimmer will cause it to go crazy.
caferacermike
Did you not get the overflow box? You should make one or get one as it will make all the difference in the world. I got a second hand Remora and found it so unsatisfying that it now sits on the front porch in a 5g bucket. Honestly the tank looks even better without it. Wryknow
You should definitely get the overflow box. It improves the skimmer efficiency and as well as fixing the micro-bubble issue. I used one and recommend it.
mojo
That's some crystal clear-looking skimmate, my friend. Got anything in the tank besides water? But seriously, it will settle down after a while. You're definitely going to have to empty the collection cup a few times until it does calm down, so don't leave it unattended for too long. I used to use a Remora skimmer before getting the Deltec MCE300, and I was actually quite pleased with it. Like others suggested, you should strongly consider the overflow box that's made for it. The only downside to using it is that it will take up more space from the top of your tank.
