thedude
Many of you asked that I post the recipe I used at this past meeting. Well here it is: Again this is a recipe originally recommended by Borneman, used by Marc Levenson (Melev) and modied furthur by myself. Jimbo
Hey John, So, is this mix for all creatures in the tank, or just the fish. It almost seems too meaty for some of the smaller polyp'd corals and such, or is it that fine of a paste after the food proc? And, approximately how many months worth of food would this recipe make for one person Jim
thedude
All of it depends on fish and coral load. This is a down the middle, run of the mill recipe but anything specific just ask.

reefman
John, How would you modify it for more coral (or as a hand feed coral mix)? Also, with this mix, would you then NOT treat the tank with trace elements, vits, amino acids, etc, but instead have them get everything from the food? I also assume you would still treat for Calcium and Mag? Also didn't see anything for Garlic. Do you add that to any of the mixes? thedude
I did use Garlic and put enough in the mix so that I could smell it. I'm not talking 1/2 a bottle or anything but you want to be able to tell that garlic is indeed in the mix. I personally think trace elements translate into "algae fuel" and do water changes to take care of any trace needs. The only thing I supplement for is calcium, carbonate hardness, and magnesium occasionally. To modify this into a coral only food recipe I'd look at the corals you are feeding in the tank, and blend a particle size useful to them. reefman
Thanks John, good advice. It's hard not to over supplement or over fed. You think you trying to give them everything they need so they can live and grow. I guess knowing when to cut back just comes with experience. Do you ever hand feed corals, or let them pick up their food from the water column? Stephen
