Chris_ATX
Anyone have a recommendation on where to get plate glass to build a 36 inch tank? Really want to drill the bottom and most I find are either full tempered or at least the bottom is tempered. Or if you have or know of anyone selling one please let me know. Timfish
I've built a couple tanks with free glass on CL. There is a bit of guess work as some is tempered but you won't know until you start to drill it.
jestep
Binswanger I've also used alamo off of north lamar and they were very accommodating for a small project. You need to be really clear on the dimensions and make sure their tolerances for the finished product are acceptable. Some glass shops can only guarantee 1/4" precision and that doesn't always work well for an aquarium. The other major factor is if you want the edges finished. Beveling and polishing makes it more complicated and expensive, but the finished product is much better especially for rimless tanks.
