Water temp

My water temp was at 74 when I got home from work earlier today around 12:30. I don't know how long it was like that. Is that too cold and if so how long until it causes any damage???

Probably fine. Much better being too low (within reason) than being too high in my experience. In any case, 74 is very unlikely to cause any major problems. If it got to the 60's, you should probably be concerned, but 74 shouldn't cause any damage to coral or fish.

Do you have a chiller? Running A/C really low?

My tank temps with running 71 degrees home A/C, pumps and LEDs are 79-82 daily.

Don't even think my water temp in the winters hit 74 but I do have a heater.

Just wondering if it's a bad thermometer.

I came home and it was super cold. The ac was at 65! It must've been so cold the heater in the tank was having a hard time keeping up. I normally have my water temp at the same range that you have it at. 78-82.

Birdsnest may start bleach out some around 72 but many corals will tolerate lower. I've seen mushrooms survive 40 degrees in a bucket overnight. For what it's worth the average minimum temperature for reefs is 70 degrees.
