ShawnKoto
I am having a very difficult time identifying this snail-thing that came in on a rock: the snail's shell is completely covered by brown/green, spiky tissue. Under the tissue it has a very clean shell that looks like a Cowrie shell. I figure someone on the board has seen a bunch of these and I just can't find it anywhere. Just want to make sure it is good for my tank. Thanks!
Timfish
Cool! Most likely your right it is a cowry. Can you get a picture with it's mantle retracted? Some cowrys are not good tankmates.

ShawnKoto
Actually, after researching this little hitchhiker, it is a pretty cool one. Good grazer and they are relatively hard to find online for sale. It moves darn quickly for a snail.
mFrame
The Aquadome regularly has them. These are one of my favorite tank critters, and is actually in the running to be one of the oldest creatures I have. I think it was the second or third thing I got. In my 230g he gets lost to me a lot, then pops back up, and I'm always glad to see him.
