dsquared
http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2014/04/dyn-discontinues-free-dyndns-service-to-clean-up-its-ddns-network/ I received an email saying they will end May 7th. I am no expert but are these accounts still needed with APEX fusion?
victoly
there are plenty of other options for dynamic DNS services. to answer your question, no, it will not be necessary if you interface via fusion. If you want to use some of the older options youll still need your IP address and consequently a dynamic dns can be handy.
Clark
Slightly off topic, sorry... Is this how you 'stabilize' your home ip address? I'm going to add a web server to my Sardino so I've been wondering about that part...

I'm going to add a web server to my Sardino so I've been wondering about that part... DDNS services just provide DNS for dynamic IP addresses (like your home address). You could use this type of service for an at home web server but it generally requires running a service on your desktop all the time or a home router that has it built in. For a personal server, this would probably be fine but for something more than that, I'd look at a business class option and get a static IP.
