Makena95GT
Found this in one of my many boxes of tank stuff. Have no idea what it is or for.
kingjames
looks like a float valve
Nwehrman
It's a simple mechanical float. I can't tell if its side or top mount... Commonly used for RO units
kingjames
basically you mount it to the side of your tank/sump at the level you want your water to be and hook up a resivoir and either make a gravity fed ato or buy some kind of ato system, these are best used with gravity fed IMO. basically the valve floats on top of the water and whenever the water line drops so doses to float, which then allows water from the ato resviour to replace the water in tank/sump if that makes sense. A simple search on google for gravity fed ato should give you plenty examples Edited September 4, 2013 by kingjames420
Makena95GT
Interesting, so I could find a way to incorporate it into my gravity feed ATO I plan on building?
kingjames
i think so, but have never used that paticular float before so im not 100% sure
jestep
Just run 1/8" (guessing on the diameter) jaco PE tubing into it from your ato reservoir and it actually should work. I would probably test a lot first before trusting it though. You should be able to find 1/8" jaco bulkheads so you can attach it to the ATO reservoir. Makena95GT
Sweet. guess I'll play around with it tomorrow. Thanks guys!
ckyuv
That's what I use for my ato just install a hose going to a container of water higher than the float and your set
Makena95GT
So then with this, I wouldn't need to have the container be sealed?
victoly
nope.
(Bio)³
No your gonna make a vacuum if it is sealed
ckyuv
Nope if I leave the lid on my container it will not work. I poked a hole in the top of the jug so air can enter as water drips out
