Janelle12
I had a really cool canopy once but I sold it (kicks self in rear). It was hinged so that the front side (not the top side) lifted up. The lights were mounted on the inside top and when I opened the 'lid' I could get in the tank but the lights were still on the tank so I could see in there. I forget who built it for me, I want to say Joe in Austin but I can't recall now. Anyhow, I'm considering building one myself. Can I get some of you guys to post pics of your canopies open so I can look at how they're built? Thanks. (its going to be for a 55 gallon.) If you know of any info that would help, please share. bigmike015
I used 1x2 pine for the frame and 1x10 for the font. Used a piano hinge to spilt the half and looks great!

offroadodge
I have one in my build thread that is electric and lifts off the top of the tank. I used linear actuators to do it.
