esacjack
that would be great, im building a UDS (*Ugly Drum Smoker). I'll be burning the barrle out anyway, so paint thinner may not be bad..
esacjack
actually jeremy, if you can pull off a barrel, that would be awesome. I just confirmed that the laquer/thinner will burn off during the first two seasonings.

offroadodge
I will get 2 if possible, the one I made it was a lot easier to cut the door out of one and use the 2nd to make the same door just a little bigger to seal the edge. If you know what I mean. Otherwise u have to put a trim around the 1st one to seal the door.
esacjack
ah yes, I see what you're saying.. Im still kind of designing the door access. I may try and cut it like Stumps cuts his doors, angled with a ledge to keep the goodness in..
bige
What he saying is that whatever you cut the door with, the size of the cutting device determines the material loss. So if you use a cutting wheel on say a 4 1/2" grinder, you lose about an 1/8" inch. Giving you a gap. I'm not familiar with the angle cut you speak of but maybe it yields less material loss. esacjack
thanks, yah I know what he means. The stumps smoker doors uses an angled overhang that is adjacent to a deflector on the inside of the door panel.Keeps the door from bulging or warping from heat, and creates a nice recession for using rope insulation.
