I am wondering how many fish i can have in my tank. I got a few fish from a friend and now i am wondering if there are too many. I have a 40 gallon breeder and a 20 gallon long sump.

I have :

3-Yellow Tail Damsels

1-Clown

1-Flame Angel

1-Goby

1-Damsel

1-Black striped fish

Is that to many fish?

Do you know how old the fish are? Most dwarf angels for example are juveniles or sub adults when we get them and can easily double in size and quadruple in weight in a couple of years. This would certainly effect decisions about any additional fish you may think about adding.

The blackstripe is probably a Humbug or 5 stripe damsel.

I follow the rule of 1" of fish per 1 gallon, if in a fish only or fowlr. If you want a reef, then I would divide at least by 1/2.

IMO you will have better success by trading in all of your damsels and the Humbug and going with less aggressive fish. Fish associated with nanos will do well - Clown Fish, Firefish, Gobies, Chromis etc.
