IMO it would almost be impossible to tell. The moon has 28 day cycles (approx) and all kinds of variables. Then you take into account all the different corals, water conditions, water depth, gravity effects of the moon, tidal patterns, blah blah blah. Unless you are hard core into breeding fish/corals and have the time/money/patience to experiment I woudl say go for the pretty one. :D

the few night dives ive done, its really really really dark. the light doesnt go for more than mabye 2 dozen feet, and that is in really clean water. but its really blue. i talked to the astrophysics professor on campus, he said most of the time 450-500 nm wavelength. he was not terribly apt to give too much instruction but what i understood from him was that the wavelength doesnt change that much as the real change will be in intensity. but i am sure there has to be more science to it. i am trying to get an internship with the national fish hatchery and there if i get the position i hope i will have access to people who ca answer such questions.
