(Bio)³
Today i repaired my white lights and when i turned them on to check I finally got to view one of my clams in good light. I noticed a sorta of double siphon type creature on the side of its shell. Can anyone Id the creature at all?
bige
Looks like some kind of nudi. Maybe not the clam eating kind.
Viet-tin
Probably a type of tunicate or sponge
jestep
Tunicate would be my guess.
George Monnat Jr
Is your clam showing pinched mantle syndrome at all or just ignoring the thing?
Timfish
I vote tunicate also and I would consider benificial. It looks like it has a intake and an exit opening. If you use a bamboo scewer and bump it you should see them close up. I have mushrooms growing on the sides of clams so I doubt a tunicate will bother yours and leave it in place. (Bio)³
Yes that was what I was thinking but I like the confirmation! When I turned a flashlight on to it the siphons got smaller, also as a crab walked past and brushed it they got smaller then reopened. I think it will be fine and is not hurting the clam at all! Thanks everyone
