Bpb
Im new to the hobby but recently bought an established tank that is running well. I'd like to upgrade a few pieces of equipment. If anyone has a working refractometer, 5 stage RO/DI unit, water drum for storage, or any 48" T5HO bulbs with good life still, they are parting with I may be interested in one or more items. I can continue to get by without them, but would love to upgrade. Let me know what you got
(Bio)³
I have 35 gallon barrels that have a 4 inch hole cut in the top and a water spout at the bottom. These are recycle food safe that used to hold Dr pepper syrup, orginally I built them to sell as rain barrels and I have been lazy and have not listed them. Asking $25 each (4 available)
Bpb
Thx for the reply. I'm gonna keep my eyes out for some 55 gallon drums, but if in the next couple weeks I cannot find any I may hit you up if you've still got em. Have they been cleaned out well or would I need to do that? What would you recommend the best way would be to totally sterilize something like that so I could start storing RO water without the risk of algae or bacteria growing in it? Robb in Austin
I've got a number of T5 bulbs left over. ATI, Gesieman(sp). Most are 12+ months old but still working.

I'm using Dr. Pepper syrup barrels as well (14g and 30g) and all I did was rinse them several times with a cup full of bleach added to the water. I rinsed them over several days and then let them dry out. I actually like the faint smell of Dr. Pepper I get when I open them. If you search on Austin, Craigslist for "water barrel" you'll get tons of reasonable priced options. I bought my 55gal from the barrel supply in Buda on the southbound service road because I was in a rush, and I feel like I overpaid at the time. Bpb
Which ati bulbs do you currently have? I was gonna do the popular blue+,super blue, blue +, purple+ combination. How much for the used bulbs. Mine aren't dead yet, but they're the cheap zoomed standard actinic,10000k arrangement and they're a year old. Wanted to upgrade. But as long as the bulbs still had some life in them. I don't keep any hard corals yet, just easy stuff while I get my basics and water chemistry masteres
Robb in Austin
I have blue +, aquablue special, and some others I can't recall. You can have them all free if you come get them. Weekends are out, except Sunday night, though.

Bpb
Don't know if you're interested, Rob, but if you want you can have some chaeto for your trouble. Im going to trim a bit this week. Just got the tank a few weeks ago and the 10 gallon fuge is literally full, top to bottom, front to back, side to side with chaeto so I was gonna trim about 1/3 of it
Robb in Austin
Heh, I give the stuff away too! Thanks for thinking about it though.
Bpb
Bump. Still looking for that refractometer. Preferably a seawater specific refractometer. Thanks!
+dapettit
If you didn't find a 55 gallon drum I believe Austin Home Brew will sell you an empty one for $10.

Bpb
Thx for the reply Mitch. I may hit you up at some point in the near future if they're still available. That's a great price as is, but do they come with lids too?
+Mitch
Yes, they have a removable lid with two 2in bung holes.
