Need a hand with your LED project

I'm looking to start my LED project over the summer and am looking to gain some experience making a DIY LED system. If you are making a LED light in the near future let me know if you need some help so I can get some experience doing one myself when the time comes. I have experience soldering, metal and wood working, some circuitry, and experience in a few other handyman like areas. PM or give me a call if you need some help.

I'm thinking of getting one of the kits from http://www.rapidled.com/

They have kits where everything just plugs in without soldering. I'll let you know for sure after payday if it's going to happen shifty.gif

Ya let me know, I have a soldering you can use if you want to save some $$$

Dave,

If you start your project and get stuck or unsure send me a PM and I will help. I travel past your house every day on Parmer and can stop by if you need.

Built my own LED kit for my BC29 and I have a few more LED showing up in the mail to do my sump/fuge. I would show you and let you learn on them but they are a specific type that not many people use, so I don't think the experience you would gain from it would do you much good. I chose a setup that will be simple for my fuge/sump it is a constant power and non dimmable. You mentioned you are already good with soldering so that is why I said you wouldn't gain information from this build, it will just be about 6 solder points and then done.

I also have an electrical bread board with little odds and ends to test your build before it is permanent.

Hmmmm please.gif

if you could help out with the soldering (haven't done any soldering since General Electronics freshman year of high school but could provide payment in the form of frothy beverages) this is the kit I was thinking of getting.

It is just going on the 10 gallon I have in my classroom.

thoughts anyone?

Looks good, it might save you around 30 or 40 bucks to get the kit that you have to solder.

Thanks Chris, when I get started over the summer I might have to take you up on that offer.

I did their dimmable kit for my BC29 its really simple to solder it yourself. At first it might look overwhelming but its really a breeze and turns out to be fun; at least I think so.
