FarmerTy
Hi ARC brain trust, So, to UV or not to UV? I'm leaning towards UV and have been curious as to what equipment people are using in particular before I make my purchase. Currently Aqua UV is winning the race but if I can get comparable value in a cheaper price, well, then I'd rather go that route. Thanks all for your input! -Ty
pbnj
I've always been of the opinion that they provide some benefit, but they're not worth the expense or effort.
Timfish
I vote yes. I've used several different types and some last longer than others but expect any UV sterilizer using a PVC housing to wear out sometime (i.e. leak). Here's a link to a stainless steal model Hydro Innovations uses, I'd expect it to outlast PVC. http://www.h2odistri....com/s1q-pa.asp The problem I see with UV sterilizer is getting one big enough to have a good turnover rate with a good kill rate and they add heat to aquariums. Here's a link to a thread last year discussing UV's I thought had good discussion: http://www.austinree...-mix-reef-tank/
